Someone sent me this a couple of days ago..

I thought GBA was now the standard 7th inning stretch (since 9/11?)..? Anyway.. I can't really see Tweedy singing Take Me Out either.
-
I just can't see Jeff singing God Bless America to a stadium full of baseball fans.

OP didn't say "same artist", so... I'm Not There - Dylan and The Band I'm Not There - Sonic Youth

I can beat that, 3 days a week.... a 4-foot "walk" from my bed to my desk. But on the other two days, it's 52 miles each way. And I'll have to do it every day for about 4 mos. of this year.

I guess those were pretty strange times. He was Joni Mitchell's lover, and she was in love with both Taylor and Graham Nash at the time. Much as I do admire some of these artists, the whole thing is a bit repulsive.

I'll flip that around...I could actually take his style, IF he had the pipes. He's the worst singer in rock music, evar. Eddie Vedder can't sing on key, and can barely hold a note. (really)

I grew up in Montreal in the 70's, as kids we just rolled out of bed and yawned if the Lord Stanley cup didn't look shiny enough. I was living there in '86 as well, the last time a rookie goalie took them all the way. Montrealers (my dad still is one) they expect these Habs to win it all.

Case in (my) point, James Taylor. Now let's be fair. The guy is a decent musician, a very good singer, and a pretty good songwriter. Maybe the last point is debatable, but still. Millions of people have been comforted by his version of You've Got A Friend, and I can't take that away from them. However, Traffic Jam is an abomination that won't be forgiven. But, it's not like she's pummeling me with Streisand, or teh gay showtunes compilation. I really have no problem with JT - he's probably a very nice guy, doesn't beat his family members, isn't a Republican, and all the rest. The th

Cool. Well it's always possible they could go back in time with future sequels, like Star Wars did.

Fixed for ya. To me it's the metamorphosis that's really fun to watch. I wasn't there but at least it was well documented on film. -

I would have said something earlier off Freewheelin'...like Masters Of War. But definitely plugging in at Newport '65 was his ballsiest move. -
Details, PLEASE.

That's a great observation. The Clash were definitely genre-busters, if not outright what they call a "crossover" success. In a similar/related vein, Dylan's first few records were maybe the first manifestations of the punk spirit. But he was too far ahead of the curve for it to be categorized "properly". -
Game 6 was incredible. But MTL is gonna crank it tomorrow, the Bruins won't know what hit them. I predict a blowout.

Well, they sure kicked ass in Hamburg. After that, as Lennon famously said years later, they "got dressed in suits and it became a fucking job." What was the point of playing when the amps they used couldn't go louder than the screams? hehe maybe that's why the Marshall stack was invented? But really, the whole Beatlemania thing is pretty bizarre, and to this day stands as a unique phenomenon in music. Maybe Brian Epstein was in cahoots with the CIA or something, experimenting with spraying hormones on the crowd. -

Highway Star proves that whoever wrote Deep Purple's lyrics has an IQ below 80. John Fogerty was treated worse than any other major white musician. Either that or he's just really oversensitive. I've tried and just can't get into Television. Big Star, what's the Big deal. Eddie Vedder is the worst singer in the history of rock music. He wouldn't be worthy to clean Kurt's grungy toenails. Crosby, Stills, and Nash destroyed the hippie dream. (well, maybe) Little Feat and The Band, no matter how many cult followers, will always be underappreciated. Nick Drake had more ability -
