  1. Something tells me a lot of heroin was consumed on that film set.
  2. Californication really grew on me, the weird part is that all the tensions were resolved in the last episode of season 1. Maybe they didn't know if it would be renewed. I guess they'll come up with new stuff.... Dexter is the best show currently in production, that I know of.
  3. I'll give this one a shot, but since we're talking about top notch shows I have to say I doubt anything will top Deadwood in the near future.
  4. It really bums me out that even tho 90% of Canadians are anti-Bush, we're still about to elect another conservative government. We're fucking idiots and we deserve what we get. I heard an author on the radio talking about how voters aren't trustworthy, or even qualified to do the deed. I think I'd have to agree.
  5. I love 2008-02-18. The opening 6-7 songs are just stunning. Great sound, great banter, great performances.. Dewey recording.
  6. Thanks - that made my day. (or made it a little less bleak...)
  7. That would be my contention, yep. Forget....but never forgive.
  8. Harper's such an asshole, I think he actually believes US election fever is somehow gonna translate into votes for him in October. Fucking evasive creep, he should be cleaning toilets on the night shift at an oil refinery. I sure as hell hope so. This country works better when the Conservatives and Liberals don't get anything done, dont'cha think? I guess I will vote Green or NDP.
  9. get the t-shirt....can u imagine the looks and having to explain this to everyone you talk to?
  10. +1 I would guess it will be, seems to match Nels' recent comment that Jeff has been writing some 'very beautiful' new songs for the next Wilco album. Also, I want to move to Spain. But don't we all..

You all make valid points, and everyone likes what they prefer, but we should always remember the previous 3 records came out of some pretty extreme chaos in Jeff's life. I was listening to YHF today, man some of those songs are still jarring. Radio Cure is one of the most pained vocals I can think of.....great bluesmen notwithstanding. AOAF is bloody depressing too. I love these songs to death, I'm just saying. So he finally made it to a bit safer/quieter place, so that's the record he made with SBS. Seems simple enough to me, and I'm so happy for the guy. Much as I love YHF for examp

I wouldn't be surprised with typical music fans. Wilco fans should be a little more adventurous. This is a rock band made up of guys approaching middle age....stagnating into a 'comfort zone' would be the death knell for them.

Surprised so many people want to go back to what's already been done. Ot to the "formula" that made those albums. (which, in reality, doesn't exist...they all happened by unique and unrepeatable circumstances) You may not like SBS, but the band doesn't need to look backwards to find its' future direction.
  14. Meh. You guys are baked. The vest trumps the belt and the phone. He couldn't have pulled any of this off without the vest.
  15. How many MLC's can one person have? I think I've had at least 4.
  16. I'd sell my sister for that. Well, not really. I'd sell my sister for a Yamaha FZ1. Which isn't a guitar.
  17. I assume you mean IATTBYH. I've only watched it on Youtube, and actually the sound was pretty decent through my budget-audiophile desktop stereo (no subwoofer so can't comment on bass depth). As far as I recall, these are mostly live takes that the filmmaker caught, they don't resemble the final YHF mixes of the songs. The album is famously and heavily studio-fied, and I think the end result is unique and 'classic', though they did go with a deliberate low-fi ethic - you can hear the compression on songs like Kamera, and it's intentional. Other tracks retain some dynamics. I have it on v
  18. The Beatles were anti-establishment (especially Lennon), but, like Dylan, they really never allied themselves to any political ideology. What a crock of shit.
  19. Dunno....I'm pretty sure he did back in the Linda Ronstadt tour days, but that's 35 years ago. But I'll wager he's never had an opening act of the caliber of Wilco. This is his chance of a lifetime.
  20. Jesus wept. Seemed like a lot of air guitar happening there. The whole closing ceremony spectacle was a bit.....excessive?
  21. Well, presumably it could happen since Wilco are veteran rockers, not a typical opening act. I think there's some mutual respect as far as styles, musicianship, etc. Plus Neil has been known to enjoy jamming, at least in the past.

Much as I enjoy all the Wilco albums, I would argue they have only made two really exceptional studio records (ST and YHF, naturally). With these, nearly every song is presented in its' indispensable, definitive version. With all the others, the recorded versions tend to pale in comparison to how they're performed live. There may be a couple of exceptions - ike Sunken Treasure - but not many. So while I eagerly look forward to the next record, I'm not overly concerned with how it gets executed. That's just my opinion and YMMAPWV...
