  1. I agree. The 70s was rife with great guitar rock (I don't care what anyone says) and CTK is at the pinnacle of creativity, imo. I love the RNS versions, I don't know if that's the definitive performance but it's pretty damn great.
  2. And then she straddles him in the car if I remember right. Yep, great scene. The final big scene in Scent Of A Woman is memorable (at the private school's kangaroo court), and I don't think Al Pacino's done anything that good since. The frogs scene in Magnolia was a motherfucker. Still, these are a bit over the top. I'll try to think of more. Movies with one great scene tend to need that scene to compensate for something else. For me anyway, a movie's greatness comes from it's overall flow, cohesion, and other elements. (like great acting, cinematography, or a story that pulls you in
  3. After more consideration. I think the fun of this is the switched lead vocal part, so..... I'd like to hear Neil sing Spiders, Theologians, and California Stars. A solo Neil on piano doing Reservations would be cool. I'd like to hear Jeff sing a classic like Alabama or Cortez, and maybe something newer, like From Hank To Hendrix.

    I fear

Nels has some beautiful moments on SBS... e.g. Either Way, Impossible Germany. Live he plays some gorgeous stuff on the slide, I wouldn't worry too much. Nels has a great deal of respect for his fellow musicians and he is often very understated.
  5. I need AGIB, send me a PM
  6. For Neil songs I'd like to see them do Powderfinger, Sedan Delivery or Welfare Mothers. Basically the best of the Rust era stuff. Jeff and John could do a great Powderfinger vocal, with Neil and Nels dueling on guitars.
  7. Right, so why ask the forum to flood the poor guy's inbox??
  8. I have to agree. Everyone else's angst seems so passe. Thom Yorke has found a way to turn it into a thing of indescribable beauty.
  9. You emailed Greg Kot about concerts? He's a journalist.
  10. And stadium rock is the only thing worse than arena rock.
  11. The boys will get paid handsomely and will buy new gear and threads. Really, I don't know how much bigger the group can get in North America, wouldn't this have made more sense, say, in Europe? (where I would argue there's a larger proportion of "enlightened" music lovers who may not be aware of the band) It's all good though, unless Wilco becomes an arena rock band. That would suck.
  12. Thanks, I needed that. All I was trying to say was...a lot of us Wilco fans love Neil, but a lot of Neil fans won't know who the hell Wilco is. An "up and coming band" would be a laughable tag for our boys, but oh well. It'll be a good payday and maybe we'll see some fights. KIDDING. Neil's a good guy and he does know the band, at least according to the Kot book. I bet Nels gets invited up for some guest solos.
  13. I never said that. This is a Neil Young tour, and it'll be a NY crowd. He has 10x the number of fans Wilco does, easily. This wouldn't be an issue if NY was opening for Wilco, of course I know that. It's JM2C and YMMV. Damn, I always get shot down in NY threads.....always. And I love the guy, honest.
  14. Lol, I crossed it a few years ago. You take things too seriously. But really, if you think more than 5-10% of a NY audience is gonna know Wilco's songs, I think you're in for a surprise. And the thought of it is depressing to me. YMMV.
  15. Right on. Still, those prices are fucking insane. And concerts at Air Canada Centre generally suck. I will happily skip this unless someone comps me from out of the blue. (like that's gonna happen) I just can't stomach the thought of Jeff looking for some "our loves" or "nothin's" and getting a blank stare back from 23,000 bald, fat aging hippies in tie die t-shirts. And I like Neil Young a lot.
  16. Now that I see this actually happening, I have less desire to go. No money to buy tix right now, and really not sure I want to see Wilco in a 21,000 seat arena. Or opening for anyone. It would be cool to see them do some songs together though.
  17. Haven't bothered to read the whole thread, but I think giraffo's way off base on this one. Neil ranks up there with Dylan as guys that I think Wilco would be honored to open for. Yeah they're getting old but they're by no means irrelevant. NY's influence on UT and Wilco is pretty obvious and well documented.
  18. No comment really on the next Wilco book....but the 33.3 book on The Band is a great read. Totally fictionalized, but still very entertaining.
  19. Nice review, but..... C'mon Joanie..... Nels has been in the band 4 years now, FFS. And he's the junior boy. That's hardly 'unstable' for a rock band on the bleeding edge of gestalt-country. Whatevs.
  20. I hope it's just the cowboy threads. Lookit...I crawled my way to a thousand posts. (and every one a gem)
  21. Cool pics. I've never seen Nels play banjo! Jeff looks like the freak love child of Bob Dylan and Hank Williams.
  22. Wilco is the best dressed band on the planet. I still need to see pics of this show.
