    GnfnR

Who the fuck cares, is my question. GnR has to be the most deplorable band in the known universe.
  2. Good good good vibrations.
  3. Congrats on the Martin, very nice. I'm getting the guitar bug again....it's been too long since I played. My old acoustic has been coopted by my 10 year old. I am thinking maybe an electric.. an Eastwood or something.
  4. After The Gold Rush is a must. So is Rust/Live Rust. The first two are good albums. After that I like Comes A Time, Harvest Moon, and Unplugged. I'll be in the minority saying On The Beach and Tonight's The Night are overrated.
  5. I like this - http://wilcobase.com/bm/artwork/wilco-2008-02-19-a-fold.jpg Just take it down to about 1280, or whatever. Also check out wilcoworld.net, there are loads on there from the Residency. Not high-rez, but maybe someone can post the backdoor link for those. I don't have it handy right now.
  6. Wish I could take credit, but I copped that from an article I read somewhere recently. The Atlantic, I think..or maybe it was the Economist.
  7. Just don't push it too far against your own country....
  8. I didn't mean to imply it wasn't worth it, just that to spend the money and a weekend away from my family, I'd rather wait til he's got some guests I want to see too. (he's had many greats there over the years) I suppose if Levon stops these, or god forbid kicks the bucket before I go, then I'll be kicking myself.
  9. I guess the other factor in a boycott would be the hypocrisy of the west, since we invaded Iraq only 5 years ago on a set of false pretenses, and we're still there administering the civil war we created. I know the US population supported the invasion (just barely), but the vast majority of people in European countries were opposed to their government's position on it.
  10. NWA, Public Enemy, Michelle Shocked, Laurie Anderson.
  11. Yep, and it's 5-6 hours from me. But I'd do it if someone I really like was coming, like Jeff, or maybe Gary Louris. Or Neil Young.
  12. Roby - they are just amazing.....even better than I expected. Thank you x 1 million. Y'know.. when the residency shows and theme were announced, it really didn't occur to me how special these performances would be. Even though I wasn't there, I feel lucky to have the excellent recordings, and now the fine (stunning) artwork from Roberto.
  13. Well, the next few weeks and months should be interesting. Protest groups in Tibet, and maybe Taiwan, and gonna milk this for all they can. They want the world to see what a bunch of facsist hardliners the Chinese gov't are, while we ingest the grand Beijingoism show that the olympics will be.
  14. Yep...playing UT songs, for one thing. Also none of them wore long hair that well, but Jeff and John looked pretty good. You talkin' bout Wilco or the Oakland Raiders? lol
  15. For a while now I've thought, someone should get Jeff to show up for Levon's Midnight Ramble... (hint, hint) The price of admission is a bit steep, but I'd go.
  16. Goofy. Ryan's a genius, though. And he has a sense of humor. (kinda)
  17. After 17 years....you need a primer on the different types of HDTV's. I sure as hell did. Some have the lag motion issue, some don't. And offhand I can't remember which do and don't. Try AVSforums.com I do feel that the consumer hasn't really been a huge winner in the battle of formats, and converging technologies. F'rinstance, some of the FX-heavy HD films (like Spiderman 3 on Blu-Ray), really look like shit on my display, which is 58" 1080p. The effects just look really fake in high def- especially the scenes of Spidey flying through the panning cityscapes.
  18. I have the LP's in front of me, yes they did have the whole concert including the songs that were never in the film-- Down South In New Orleans - Dr.John w/Bobby Charles Tura Lura Lural - Van Morrison duet with Richard Manuel (John Simon on piano) I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met) - Bob Dylan ..and also Out Of The Blue, which I don't recall being anywhere in the film. The "filler" on the newer DVD was just the big jam session, which was a big phat dud. Keep in mind the entire event was a gigantic cokefest. About the only interesting commentary piece from Scorcese was a
  19. Nice list, tho I've only heard parts of She & Him out of your picks. I am enjoying Marah and Black Crowes though.
  20. I believe there are two DVD versions: Regular version that came out originally 5+ years ago. Special Anniversary issue that came out a couple of years ago and features re-mastered sound, and extra bonus stuff like a running commentary by Scorcese and Robbie (which is pretty obnoxious). It also has footage of an intermezzo "extended jam session" - which is pretty boring. No one seemed very into it, except Neil Young and Levon Helm, as I recall. I have the latter version, but it's at home. AFAIK both versions have 'Caravan' on them....it was definitely a major highlight of that evening.
  21. I missed out on this. Just dropping by to say "I can't stand Manny Ramirez." Still love the Bosox tho. Thanks. Manny Ramirez blows goats, btw.
  22. Only bad people disagree with grannies. That could get you a slap upside the head.
  23. Great job....what I've read so far correlates perfectly with my feelings on the shows I've downloaded and spent time listening to.
