  2. Thanks..I knew I'd screw that one up. D'oh.
  3. I just love how they update wilcoworld with new concert pics all the time. This one is hawt! Save-worthy. And I'm not even gay. Not that there's anything wrong with it...
  4. Louisville on the summer solstice, hell yes I will be there!!!!! I'm planning a motorcycle trip that weekend to N.GA / W.NC, so it's only a 2-hour or so detour. The only thing better would be if they announce Chatanooga (or Atlanta) on the 22nd!
  5. I'm having this problem with my forum (using phpBB), I've activated admin approval + captcha but they keep coming.....30-40 a day, vs. 5-6 "real" people. It sucks!!
  6. Hey, we do too. Resisted for years, finally caved last summer. I just hate that it gets such shitty mileage in the city. Oilco's get >15% of my net income! Great for trips though, and hauling our tent trailer.
  7. This is on tony Avenue Road in uptown Toronto...between Lawrence and Wilson. I took a bunch of pics with my cell phone, but the traffic is gridlocked there b/c of road work...and the area is FULL of goddamned Soccer Vans and Soccer Utility Vehicles, blocking my shot at better pics. The nerve of those people!!
  8. My new favorite construction site.
  9. I get so damn confused between Nick Lowe, Nick Cave and Nick Drake sometimes. Dammit.
  10. These have helped me immensely at one time or another. Bob Dylan - Modern Times The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Leonard Cohen - 10 New Songs Fugees - The Score Townes Van Zandt - Rear View Mirror Townes Van Zandt - In The Beginning Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears Lucinda Williams - Essence Laurie Anderson - Big Science Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
  11. I was sort of "forced" off it. We moved and my new music room was small...my system sounded like shit. I decided to sell the system I had, regretfully, and bought a motorcycle and a much more modest system. Worked for me!
  12. Muffled as in muted highs? It could be the needle, how old is it? Or possibly the preamp. - does your preamp have a real phono (RIAA equalized) section...be sure you're using that input - are the cartridge leads connected well, are any of them loose (or frayed). if loose, you could tighten them with a needle-nose pliers - is the tonearm cable ok, or are the plugs 'loose' in the jacks on your preamp - does the stylus have a big hunk of crud on it...can be cleaned (carefully!) with a small brush - is the tracking force set correctly for the cartridge you have? Any of the above could b
  13. LOL. It's an illness called audiophilia....I'm mostly over it now. (maybe)
  14. ^ ^ ding ding, we have a winner. SP's went from likeable to loathsome in less time than it took them to cash their first inifinite sadness checks. And anyone who aligns with Courtney Love needs to be severely and completely rejected by the music loving world.
  15. Probably my bad for trying to be too "clever". But for the record... BT ISN'T the album that (directly) preceded Summerteeth, but it is if you are only counting 'pure Wilco' records. (i.e. if you don't count Woody as a band member) That's all. Peace and out.
  16. No sweat....maybe we're just on different wavelengths. I know what I wrote and meant, I think anyone can plainly see that. Bummer this thread went south, guess it might be the karma you get for putting the ISN'T in the topic subject.
  17. Holy Christ! You misread it and now want to pass it off on the semantics? I can't believe I'm even responding to this. "The" album clearly implies "the one", the one that directly preceded it. Not "an album", not all the prior ones, not one of the billions of other records that also preceded it. Yeesh.

    Hate It Here

Can I quote that and put it on a t-shirt?
  19. Ha, you're right too. (on the spelling) As for the usage, I was attempting to be humorous/cute; but also 'factual', as I consider MA1/2 to be "Wilco records". Perhaps a discography reminder is needful here. Sky Blue Sky 2007 Rhino Hi-Five: Wilco 2006 Kicking Television: Live In Chicago 2005 A Ghost Is Born (Special Edition) 2005 A Ghost Is Born 2004 Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 2002 Mermaid Avenue Vol. 2 2000 Summerteeth 1999 Mermaid Avenue 1998 Being There 1996 A.M. 1995 Therefore, BT preceeds St -- but only if you don't count Mermai
  20. I'm sure your analysis is bang on....as I said I haven't watched that many matches in the last couple of years. Nadal just seems more charismatic, that's all I really meant. I know Federer is a stronger player, by a pretty good margin. I guess I should watch more, maybe he really is the best ever.

    Playboy!

I just read the Playboy interview yesterday and then came upon this thread by chance (viewing someone's profile). I agree it is one of the better SBS interviews. And Playboy is hardly pornographic. I'm not an academic, but I dated a woman for a while who was doing her thesis in American History on influential magazines of the 20th century, and Playboy is widely accepted as a significant publication that helped shape our culture. It ranks up there with (for example) Rolling Stone, Interview, LIFE, Vogue, etc. I think they've always maintained pretty high journalistic standards...this is r
  22. I'll use it when appropriate....and I even know how to spell it. thanks for the advice though.
  23. ...preceeded Summerteeth. Unless you don't count Woody Guthrie as a member of Wilco.
  24. I agree with that, SWTS has some great lyrics. Right now my favorite lyrics are off the last verse of You Are My Face; Our houses hemmed into homes Trying to be thankful Our stories fit into phones And I'm also very partial to Sky Blue Sky, The old buildings downtown Empty so long ago Windows broken and dreaming So happy to leave what was my home ......the lovefest continues...........
