I thought it odd The Black Keys were included. Fun read though.

Who are the Bob Dylans and Neil Youngs of today?
stooka replied to LouieB's topic in Someone Else's Song
Jeff Tweedy Jack White M Ward David Byrne these gentlemen have a way of evolving over time without giving up on quality. -
You'd be hard pressed to find 2 better answers than The Pretenders - Learning To Crawl and AC/DC - Back In Black. It's safe to even suggest that Chrissie Hynde still has another comeback in her somewhere. Of course, these represent a comeback from devastating losses within the band as opposed to a run of stinkers. For that, I agree with the Dylan mentioned before and add Blood On The Tracks.

R.I.P. Andy! Anyone here familiar with his description of a football game in the routine "What It Was, Was Football"? Classic country humor.

Band lead singers you met? Friendly, not friendly? Impressions?
stooka replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Got to meet Merle Haggard last night after the show. Granted it was brief and consisted of a handshake and some gushing about how much we appreciated him playing in our town, but he was super friendly. Btw... The show was terrific and his new material blended seemlessly with the classics, which was quite a surprise! -
I find this guy just as objectionable as an asshole who holds tweedy captive In a conversation throughout the majority of a LRS intermission, thus disallowing the free exchange of ideas for anyone else with the man or makes silly dog panting noises during the song I requested. Either way, I find your position utter BS!

M. Ward - A Wasteland Companion (April 10th)
stooka replied to RainDogToo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Like the new record! Love the title track and how it takes a turn off into an instrumental. Has anyone else ever had a cymbal solo on their record? Let alone, two? Hahaha Time to find a new muse though.... ZD has run her course. Only complaint would be that the record has no consistency. Whereas all his other releases flow quite well. This one can't seem to find it's identity. It's up, it's down. I find myself skipping Primitive Girl and the ZD tracks for the lush, slower songs. I swear the man has seven fingers on each hand.... -
Was in Boise this weekend and heard Dawned On Me at a restaurant on Sat and again at another on Sunday.
