  1. I am having a "slack" day at work today. Yesterday was sheer chaos, so I have earned the right. I am debating between watching "Inland Empire" or "Barton Fink" this weekend, drinking coffee, and counting down until 3:30 when I can go home.
  2. This is a great song! Now I have it in my head, and my Friday will go much better.
  3. I agree. Look at a song like Sunken Treasure. Kind of lazy on the album, but live it kicks SERIOUS ass. Misunderstood, Kingpin, same rule applies. That's why I love all those wonderful, wonderful people who tape the shows and let us hear them and download them. I wish I could buy you all a beer!
  4. Agreed. I think they should bomb the All-Star game itself, and just have a weekend of skills competitions. Have all the guys that have a hard shot take a crack at that title, not just the players at the All-Star game. The game itself is a joke. I haven't watched it in years. None of the superstars really try, as they don't want to risk injury and nothing is on the line anyway.
  5. I am by NO means bored with the newer Wilco. I think Jeff's newer songs have alot more emotion behind them, and you can tell that he is still growing as a songwriter and as an artist. Just because this album is less complex that YHF does not mean this is a regression, as someone alluded to in an earlier post. Putting out an album like SBS was alot braver than putting out another highly experimental album like YHF and AGIB. I thnk lyrically this is his strongest album to date, easily. SBS took me a few listens to get into (although I immediately loved What Light and Sky Blue Sky), but now I lov
  6. I have not spent alot of time in the States, but I spent a week in Minneapolis a couple of years ago which I really enjoyed. Got to see Golden Smog at First Ave, check out the coolest record shop I have been in (Electric Fetus), and spend alot of money! Being in a city that size was quite the eye-opener for a small town Canadian boy. Would love to go back there one day.
  7. I have to do this quick before I change my mind..... In no particular order- It's A Shame About Ray- Lemonheads Phantom Power- The Tragically Hip Blood On The Tracks - Bob Dylan Yankee Hotel Foxtrot- Wilco Laid- James Modern Life Is Rubbish- Blur My Morning Jacket- It Still Moves Blonde On Blonde- Bob Dylan March 16-20, 1992- Uncle Tupelo Ascend To The Stars- Last Days Of April
  8. About 30 pages into this one and I am hooked.
  9. Looks awesome! I love those old Tele's. I just stumbled on a '75 Mann "Telecaster" (made in the same factorys as Ibanez) for GREAT deal and I love it! One of the best playing electrics I have ever played. I am thinking of upgrading the pickups one day and I may need to pick your brain. I have been playing for about 12 years, but only in the last couple have I got into the technical side of guitars i.e. upgrading parts, truss rods, etc. Luckily I know a really good guitar tech!
  10. I am making my way through this again. Been a little obsessed with all things Lynchian lately.
  11. You lucky buggers!!!! I am very jealous. Oh well. I just got this bootleg from The Owl And Bear and I am revelling in it's wonderfulness right now.
  12. One of my favorite "lazy Saturday morning with a cup of coffee" albums......
  13. There was very little that appealed to me about this movie. The love story was RIDICULOUS. My wife and I talked about it after the movie and agreed we would both be running for our lives, regardless of how much we loved each other.
  14. Did you see him in that shootout a little while ago? He just walked in and hammered it! That was classic.
  15. The All-Star game is a joke. Have you heard about the re-formatted skills competition, and Young Stars game? I don't even know where to start. All I want to know is who has the hardest shot!
  16. This is the funniest thread EVER! What a way to end the week! Thank you, Via Chicago.
  17. Please no! None of that ridiculousness. I guess I am done with this thread for now, since I am at work and all.
  18. Damn it! That just made me burst out laughing at work! My office mates must wonder what I am doing all the time that's so funny...........
  19. I saw this last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Anton Chigurh is one of the best movie villains I have seen in a long time. He was terrifying! I had to laugh so hard when Tommy Lee's character says "Well, okay. What do we circulate? Lookin' for a man who recently drunk milk?" His delivery on that line was priceless. This film exceeded my high expectations. I want to see it again soon.
  20. ELT is pretty rockin'. I LOVE that song! I'm Always In Love is a rocker as well.
  21. To see Wilco or Jeff in an intimate setting like that I would pay $1000 in a heartbeat, no questions asked. Tupelo- $100 (but that's a tough call, how would it be with Jeff and Jay playing together again. Might pay alot more......) Son Volt- $50 Jay- $50
  22. I wish Canadian politics was as interesting as our neighbours down south.
  23. This should be good. I really like Failer and Back To Me. "Copied Keys" is a beautiful song.
  24. Haha, we could be here all day with the great "Lynchian" quotes. I am wanting to see "Inland Empire" soon. That should be epic.
  25. Yes, Mr. Lynch has frequently left me thoroughly confused, but entertained nonetheless.
