pretty fantastic... as much as i liked the last one, sometimes the organ/keys were a bit much at times, they bring the rock more this time around. bit more melody from Craig as well.

these ones are i believe: 10-06 Dubuque, IA - Voices Warehouse Gallery 10-07 Cedar Rapids, IA - C.S.P.S. 10-13 Minneapolis, MN - Bryant Lake Bowl 10-14 Madison, WI - Stage Door at Orpheum Theatre 10-21 Chicago, IL - High Concept Laboratories (The Blackbird Party) ^ it's prolly for the best the late show sold out in about an hour (it holds 50 people), the early one about a day and a half

the new record annoys me more than i actually enjoy it, but the first one is wicked good.

oof. i just listened to the first 7 tracks of this... i'll admit, i saw John play at a really small club before he released his big record on the recommendation of a friend, and while i found his own music & lyrics to be quite poor for the most part, his guitar skills were undeniable... this one sounds better, but other than the first track (which is quite good, as much as it owes the melody to People Get Ready), it's still pretty much perfectly crafted adult contemporary. music for soccer moms. if this is what he's writing at age 28, what is he gonna do when he turns 40, or even 50?

yeah... it's a pretty fun record. i liked some of Sunlandic a lot, but Satanic Panic in the Attic is still my fave of theirs.
