I think that I would call it "Up Your Butt Records" in honor of today's very popular thread.

Does it make you high AND foreign? Because, you know, that could be the case. Foreigners do get high. Don't they? You know, taking foreign substances and all that. So, wait... would taking foreign substances into your body MAKE you foreign? You know you are what you eat. Oh, and foreign substances... like putting CDs up your butt?

Tonight. Hope to see somebody there. Please let me know if you do come, so I know to look for you. And, introduce yourself.

How about: Harry Nilsson - Harry/Nilsson Sings Newman (always to have a good 2-fer for situations like this) Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (hard to imagine eternity without this one) Jimmy Cliff (et. al.) - The Harder They Come (do I need to explain this one?) This exercise has caused me to think that I may need to re-evaluate my "all-time" list. I think there have been some shifts.

Every time I hear a Billy Squier song, I cannot believe how much I love it. The man can write some great rock hooks. I mean: "The Stroke", "Lonely is the Night", "Everybody Wants You", "My Kind of Lover", "In the Dark", and so on. I forget just how many great songs he has. So, I'm with you on this one, cryptique.

Is there an album out there that is completely representative of a TYPE of music that you hate, but for some reason you love that one damn album? For me, this is a prime example: I am not a fan of the 1960's/1970's female folk thing. I hate it. Something about it always grates. I think that it's probably those soprano voices that are just too much. But something about The Roches is just so damn wonderful! It falls squarely into that genre that usually irritates me so. But, something about this one is so charming and bizarre.

Just watched The Wizard of Oz with the kids. My younger son (9) enjoyed it a lot: "This is soooo weird!!!" My older son (11) seemed to enjoy it at first, but then walked out, citing "cheezyness". Personally, I had forgotten how much i enjoyed it. Or, maybe I just enjoy it more now that I'm older.

Songs not good enough for the album they are on

"Lonesome Cowboy Bill" from Velvet Underground - Loaded Used to be one of my favorite tracks on the album, but I have now come to realize that it really is just a steaming pile, compared to the other great tunes on there. -
I haven't seen it yet, but have every intention of doing so. I love Wes Anderson.

It sucks when we see evidence of our own advancing age in the appearances of others.

I'm just waiting for another Joe Pisapia solo plate.

My group has just issued a new album

Just have had the time to give a little scan, but it sounds good so far. Looking forward to really listening. Congrats on the release! EDIT: How's Bandcamp working out for you? I just joined. -
Obviously. Damn. Rest in peace.

I am looking for someone to review my new album, too. The traditional media outlets have NOT been very good about responding. Pretty disheartening, actually. Hope that you're not experiencing the same. Sorry that I have not gotten around to listening to the SCS album again, but I have been bombarded by new music today. I promise to make room for it today and write you a more-comprehensive review. I did like it a lot, and am looking forward to digging in even more.

Since being recommended to me in THIS THREAD, I've seen his album covers popping up in the "Now Playing" threads a few times. And he's been getting some more chatter around here, too. Lots of fans? I like this record (Melted), too. I think that I'll check out the first one, as well.

That's not a mistake on my part. That's how they spell it. They were/are big B52's fans, and it's something of a tribute to that whole thing. (Or so I've read.)
