Yeah, I read that they must have thought Indianapolis was thinking of taking him, or another team was going to trade up to take him.

Any comments on the first round last night? I'm happy with the Lions picks, I think... I love that there's grades out there already. But, if Ngoddammokong "boy named" Suh is as good as his hype, Lions should have a decent D-line next year. Hopefully the RB they traded up for can get past his fragile rep.

Try thinking about baseball next time. -
Nice so see Slim Charles make a cameo. Was hoping he was the guy they were looking for... The Wisconsin tourist scenes were a bit much, but I love how much airtime the music is getting.

Hawks need to get their shit together. Rinne's good. Quenneville's job will be in jeopardy if they take a 1st round exit. How is Dave Bolland getting more ice time than Hossa?

Hipster? yes. Anachronistic? no. -
Sharks are fine. They're completely outplaying the Avs. Shots were 51-17 in favor of the Sharks. You can't be much more dominating than that. It's just that Anderson has been standing on his head and playing out of his skull, which is why the NHL playoffs are so great. A goalie can steal a series. But, if the Sharks keep playing like they have been, they'll eventually sneak a puck past the red line and win the series. Detroit is getting outplayed by Phoenix. AND Phoenix has a great goalie. That's a big hill to climb. Lidstrom isn't the same anymore. I wonder if he'll retire. All I know is th

Caribbean movies, literature, music, art
Winston Legthigh replied to Queen Amaranthine's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Perhaps that makes sense if I was suggesting that Belafonte was a one-stop shop to understand all Caribbean music. I wasn't. I'm merely adding him to the list, as I feel that leaving him out would paint an incomplete picture. Or maybe it makes sense if the Dave Clark Five were singularly instrumental for making rock and roll a popular genre in their day. They weren't. Perhaps Belafonte's music is squaresville to you, Daddy-O. That's fine. It doesn't change the cultural impact he had. -

Yes. Really. Not quite the only VCer who owns Belafonte records, as I do too. There were about 5-6 albums my parents had that I grew up on, and Belafonte Live at Carnegie Hall was one of them. He was very important in popularizing the "calypso sound" in the 50s, so why ignore him? -
Wings will stick with Howard. But, they're going to have to come up with a new gameplan if they want to get out of the first round. I wonder if this is the first time all first round series were tied 1-1.

Exciting game in Phoenix last night. Man I love NHL playoffs.

I second the recommendation for Rockers. Any music released from Studio One. Harry Belafonte. -
Other people? yes. Large amounts of people? (your original words) Arguable.

Have you listened to Trout Mask Replica?

I've watched the first hour so far. I keep expecting Bunk to change into a suit and tie. The only bad actor so far who seemed to be ACTING is Goodman's daughter. But, I can live with it. Very nice pilot so far. Love the music. Not bothered by Zahn.
-
Or conversely, IMHO, it shows how pathetic the shoot-out is and how the league should get rid of it. A game shouldn't be decided on a skills competition. If the league was really behind it, they'd use it in the playoffs. Heaven forbid. Go back to ties.

Boston took the season series, no?

Being up to watch TV past 10pm is a foreign concept to me. My wife and I allow ourselves 3 shows each to DVR. Mine currently are The Pacific, Treme, & South Park. Hers are Project Runway, Real Housewives of NYC, and Kell on Earth. We cheat by having co-sponsored shows: House Hunters International and Top Chef - Celebrity Chef.

Put a big body in front of him, and crash the net. Red Wings' formula for tough goalies for years. Not a sure-fire thing, since players who are willing to take Holmstromesque punishment are few and far between, but, you have to be willing to get ugly goals by creating traffic in front of the net. Miller will stop what he can see.

eesh. TBS? As a lead-in to the George Lopez show??? Talk about wallowing in obscurity.

Tigers! 5-1 = great start, even though Verlander is having his typical slow start. Nice to see Bonderman come in over the weekend and allow one hit through five innings. I was going through some old boxes and found my old 1984 - Bless You Boys bumper sticker.

West (the only conference that matters) Sharks over Avs in 5. Preds over Hawks in 6. I think the Hawks are ripe for a big letdown, and Rinne could steal the series. Canucks over Kings in 5. Wings over Coyotes in 6. Preds over Sharks in 6. Wings over Canucks in 7. Wings over Preds in 7. East (the also rans) Caps over Canadiens in 5. Flyers over Devils in 6. Bruins over Sabres in 7. Pens over Sens in 6. (No way will the NHL let Cindy go out in the first round) Caps over Flyers in 6. Pens over Bruins in 5. Caps over Pens in 7. Finals: Wings over Caps in 6. St. Nick retires wi

Good Times. Full Disclosure. I'm not a Minnesotan currently. I'm one state to the right (geographically and philosophically). But when I go to the Hall of Fame, I'll retire as a Minnesotan. -
