My picks: Spain over Paraguay - Biggest mismatch in the quarterfinals. Uruguay over Ghana - This one could go either way. Not too impressed with either team Brazil over Netherlands - Should be a good match. Brazil is looking unbeatable though Argentina over Germany - I think this should be the best match of the quarters, and I think Argentina might be the underdog here. Messi is the best player on the field though, so I'm tipping the scales in their favor. Argentina over Spain - I'm picking Argentina to go all the way - riding Messi's back the whole time. Brazil over Uruguay - no contest

So, which is it? They have no incentive to compete with their competitors, or they eliminate competition? -
I'm betting you're smart enough not to cheer for Celtic in a Rangers pub.

The ball has to COMPLETELY cross the line. His knee wasn't a ball's width (so to speak) behind the line.
-
Strange you could make that call even though none of the camera angles showed it conclusively over the line.

Do these rules only apply to World Cup finals? Or to World Cup qualifying as well (where teams play each other more than once)?

For France, it's alternate years of all or nothing: 1998: Won the cup 2002: Scored ZERO goals in group stage 2006: Finalist - lost on penalty kicks 2010: ZERO goals scored so far in group stage...

The US had some quality chances - they could have stolen a victory. England of course could have run away with it - they had more quality chances. But still, the US could get deadly on set pieces, and they have a world-class goalie. They should be able to make it into the 2nd round.

Hollywood's output has ALWAYS been 95% craptastic, from day one, remakes or no. And I think that estimate is generous.

Ah well... I'm looking forward to seeing him for my first time in a couple weeks. ZZ Top is opening! Should be a great show. I have a couple friends coming into town, so I'm just looking forward to that weekend in general.

Q: You’ve been known for playing new stuff on your tours at the expense of some of your better-known hits. A: Yeah, well, we’ve had enough looking back now. We’ve been through all the 30th anniversary stuff and the movie. OK, we’ve summed that up. Now it’s time to move forward, play some new stuff, show people we’re still creating. We will not turn into a jukebox. Full interview

Selig speaks: Major League Baseball released the following statement Thursday afternoon from commissioner Bud Selig: "First, on behalf of Major League Baseball, I congratulate Armando Galarraga on a remarkable pitching performance. All of us who love the game appreciate the historic nature of his effort last night. "The dignity and class of the entire Detroit Tigers organization under such circumstances were truly admirable and embodied good sportsmanship of the highest order. Armando and Detroit manager Jim Leyland are to be commended for their handling of a very difficult situation.
