Having just returned from seeing Tony Bennett and his band tonight, I want to add it to my list of favorite concerts for the year. I don't see how anyone who's 90 years old can do what he does. He's incredible.

Saw him tonight at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. He performed with a three-piece band consisting of a piano player, a drummer, and a bassist. The band was top-notch. I tried to memorize their names and googled more info as soon as I got home. Harold Jones is 76 and was Count Basie's drummer. Marshall Wood played the upright bass. Bennett's longtime piano player, Ralph Sharon, unfortunately passed away last year. The new piano player is Billy Stritch. My concert schedule's been pretty lean this year: Wilco - Tabernacle - Atlanta, GA - both nights ( neither would land on my list of favorite Wilco shows, however) The Cure - UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans, LA - both nights - Bob Smith can still sing Loretta Lynn - IP Casino - Biloxi, MS - the show was shortened considerably because Loretta was under the weather, but it was a bucket list show for me and I took my mom, who's had her hands full the last two years with my dad being ill Alejandro Escovedo - Chickie Wah Wah - New Orleans, LA - beautiful show made better because I met him

Hoping for some Deep South shows that aren't festivals. I just don't have the finances for a Winterlude trip.
