This is all starting to feel very suspicious to me. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but Trump's "health watch" will now eclipse: - NYT acquires Trump’s Tax Returns -"Stand down and standby" -The debate debacle and/or avoidance -Melania Tapes -Brad Parscale suicide watch -Kimberly Guilfoyle sexual harassment -Sinking poll numbers He lies so much that it’s hard to believe he’s now telling us the whole truth.

That debate... what a shit show!

As we head toward this Supreme Court Nomination
ih8music replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
If I’m not mistaken, Elena Kagan had zero experience as a judge at any level before she was nominated. -
Terrific show!

Steve Earle is going to release an album of JTE covers in January, with all proceeds going to JTE's daughter. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/justin-townes-earle-steve-earle-tribute-album-1061233/ I expect it to be intensely emotional. Wonder if he'll do "Mama's Eyes"

The Lucero virtual block party was pretty great this past weekend. Night #2 they played Nobody's Darlings in its entirety.

Playing JTE all day. And crying.

I’m crushed. Way too young to go. So much talent, lost. I’ve been a fan for years but this was finally the year I planned to catch him live (pre-covid). Fuck 2020.

Watching the "A Song for Joe" tribute on youtube now... Tweedy does a nice acoustic cover of "Death or Glory" at around 15 mins in.
-
On a less-culturally astute vein... I found myself watching ESPN 8: The Ocho for a couple of hours this weekend. I witnessed strongman competitions, marble racing, and best of all, Norwegian Døds (bellyflop) championships. It was awesome and surreal and only a tiny bit depressing...

Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires played the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville last Friday and played through his excellent new album Reunions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2ygLmzahTg -
Is it streaming? I don't see it on Hulu or Netflix...

Sammy's "Swinging Party" cover was really special (despite Jeff butchering the solo ). He's got a great voice.

Jason Isbell wrote a really nice piece on Prine in the NYT today: Jason Isbell: John Prine Taught Me to Stay Vulnerable and he and Amanda dedicated their show last night to him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxwJ2qQs4ZE

Hope he’s enjoying the vodka and ginger ale.

John Prine died today from CV-19 complications. So sad. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/john-prine-obit-253684/

Pains me to say that we're going to see an avalanche of the artists we love dying from this.

Last weekend, I watched the 2006 Heavyweight Championship of Arm Wrestling on "ESPN8-The Ocho" (ESPN2, really). It was sadly, very sadly, satisfying. But I fully expect e-sports to take an even bigger foothold if this continues. That's pretty much all my 16yr old son watches these days - and while it's a little tough for old guys like me to follow initially, it's definitely exciting and checks many of the boxes that watching "real" sports checks.

I realized that if I'm not able to find time to exercise during this self-quarantine period it's never going to happen. So yeah, things are pretty much the same for me in many ways -- not the least of which is my ability to find more clouds than silver linings! (Going for a walk this afternoon, weather-permitting.)

Idiots. I would be terrified if I (or a loved one) were a senior living near a spring break community. This is when martial law starts sounding somewhat reasonable.
