If you're going to accuse Adams of borrowing from anyone, I think he takes much more from The Smiths than anyone else.

That was a great documentary. How about all bling Isaac Hayes had. Damn he was fly!

Should I use that excuse? No, but why do you ask,

So I open my new Rolling Stone to see a 4 star review of the new Pumkins by David Fricke. I think well, Fricke can't be another tool of the corporate, money grubbing music industry so I'll give this another few spins. Well...it still isn't good. You can basically cut this disc in half. "Doomsday Clock"

I have been listening to and collect many live Ryan shows and have no idea where you got the idea that he ever "jams for 20 minutes". His longest live song may be "What Sin" but even the studio version of that is 9 minutes long. Now the shows he played with Phil Lesh is a whole different ballgame...

Weren't they known to be horrible live??
-
It was in the New York Times interview. He said he asked the head of the label what songs he liked out of the ones he sent him.

New P.J. Harvey "White Chalk" due Sept. 24

Best news all day!! I think her last CD is the only mistep in her whole catalog so let's hope this makes up for it. -
Sonic Nurse is 100 times better than Rather Ripped. I would play RR for people that don't like Sonic Youth but for a die-hard fan I found it totally boring. Kim's vocals were the only standout for me. She "sounds" great on that disc.

I think this is the smartest strategy I have heard by an artist to get their music hear yet. Prince realizes no one pays for CD's anymore period. Brilliant, I say!
-
is amazingly good! A surprisingly stong disc. It more than makes up for the blandness of the last Sonic disc. It's mostly acoustic and is a total departure from anything I've heard from Thurston. It's the most interesting Sonic-related material in many moons. Anyone else loving it??
-
Oh my God, now I'm not going for sure!Seriously, you say this like it is a bad thing. I would love a show without drunkin morons for a change... Umm, yuck. I hate Summerfest crowds.I would much rather rather they played the Pabst or Riverside.
-
It took me a while to warm to them. I still can't get into their first two discs but I think The Crain Wife is wonderful. It sounds like Yes did a disc with REM. One of the best "sounding" discs production-wise I have heard in a long time.

As a huge defender and fan of The Pumpkins since Gish, I cannot express how disappointed I am with this. It is everything that I was worried about and more. I even liked The Future Embrace, ok?! How did Corgan forget how to write a single melody or hook? Why does the whole thing sound like it was recorded in a submarine with Billy singing in the next room? Who would have thought James and D'Arcy were the smart ones for skipping this. I guess they added more to the Pumpkins sound then I ever thought. This thing makes Zwan sound like the freaking Beatles! Between this and the new Sinead O'Con

Too bad the song is horrible....

The Cure 2007 USA/Canada Dates announced!

If I'm not mistaken, I think that Vic show was some Q101 radio invite only fan thingy.... They actually played the World Music Theater on that tour but that was part of the the Curiosity festival.. -
I totally disagree. I am a huge fan and find Easy Tiger to be close to the bottom of Ryan's output. The critical praise reminds me of when the last Pearl Jam disc came out. The label pushed it big time and guess what, the critics hailed it as some big comeback. In reality, it wasn't any better or worse then their last 3 discs. I think the lable is pushing this disc big time so the critics are paying attention. Plus it helps that is concise and easily digestable. How many times do you think most critics made it through Cold Roses (his best album)? I am not finding repeat listenings hel

Smashing Pumpkins to Fans, Indie Stores: Fuck You
imsjry replied to Tenderloin's topic in Someone Else's Song
Changing the subject a bit, I cannot believe the bile spewed on here from the Non-Pumpkins fans. I guess I never realized what a polerizing band they are. A band that causes such passionate responces for and against must be doing something right in my book... -

Smashing Pumpkins to Fans, Indie Stores: Fuck You

That's just not true, nor is it what the article says. The cd's will be sold everywhere, just with bonus tracks at those particular retail chains. I have no idea what the problem with that is. They are trying to get people to freaking buy cd's anyway they can these days. Pitchfork really blows! -
found on a blog site. Good quality.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/qnnivs

Another reason why Pitchfork sucks big time. Bands have been doing the differnt package thing for a few years now. Why the hell bash The Pumpkins?? Oh yeah, they don't meet the Pitchfork coolness factor anymore. Wilco just did the same thing and sold the songs for car commercials and they get a pass?? Pitchfork is really shit! -
First of all, are you sure he "stormed off the stage"? I mean, I heard all this stuff about that show but when I listen to it on the Archive site it sounds wonderful and Ryan never sounds angry or anything. I mean, movies can be 3 or 4 hours long but if one if only 90 minutes, does that mean it sucks by default?? It just seems like many people need controversy where this guy is involved and I don't get it.

I think they have played that venue on every Chicago stop since the Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me tour....
