  1. There was a 256kbs stream rip out there. This sounds exactly like it with all the crackling and stuff. I sure hope this isn't legit because it sounds bad...
  2. It sounds exactly the same as the stream copy I have.
  3. I've listened to that show 100 times now and you are right. It works great live, it's just that no one there had heard it yet so it seemed awkward. By the way, who the hell dances at a Wilco show??? Maybe a head nod or two but actual dancing??
  4. Not sure what your problem with this song is, but I think it is destined to be a classic. I mean it. You will hear it on radio stations 20 years from now. I for one find it very refreshing to hear Jeff write some lyrics that are very simple and direct. I also find it very uplifting. Does that make it cheeseball? Maybe I'm just getting old....
  5. Can I please ask you, with that many kids when are you actually able to LISTEN to music in the house?? I only have 2 kids and hearing any music in the house is next to impossible. If I play any at all, it's background music under the "white noise"....
  6. Didn't they open with it at the killer Auditorium show I went to in November? I think so. I loved it then, and I love it on the disc. How can you guys not love when that keyboard and groove kicks in?
  7. Why does every band hate Wisconsin?? Ok, don't answer that....
  8. Like you don't personally like her, or you don't understand why people do? Because if you don't "get" why people like her, I can help you with that....
  9. You deleted the opening and closing songs to an album??? Would you draw a mustache on the "Mona Lisa" too? Seesh, kids today....
  10. You are listening to a 256 kbps of the stream. You do not have a CD rip as they are NOT out there....
  11. Different strokes I guess. I count "Okemah" as my favorite Son Volt-Farrar related release period, and this one is a strong second. Than again, "Trace" has always bored me so what do I know....
  12. A perfect opening track. I'm in love with this song.
  13. A "bad" Wilco disc for me would have been another sonic collage, YHF-type disc. As much as I liked it because it was SO different, it isn't what Wilco is all about for me. It really surprises me to think there are more fans of that record than say, Being There or AM. I think SBS is the truest disc they have done since Being There. And "On and On" is the best closing track of any Wilco CD, hands down!
  14. Holy crap. This wins asshole post of the year. Thanks for telling me what I like and don't like. And even after all of your trying, I love the new disc AND I'm playing it for my friends. How about them Chinese Apples?
  15. Dontcha find that you tend to enjoy albums more AFTER you have bought them? Pay for it, you may actually love it.

    Sky Blue Sky

Very well said. It's like most of these reviews are from people that got into Wilco starting with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or something. Some guy actually wrote something about "what happened to the cool alternative Wilco I love". WTF is that crap?? I guess I never realized that type of fan-base existed for them. This album sounds exactly like the kind of music I think Wilco should be making. It seems like such a natural progression. I can't believe true fans of theirs don't think that as well. Maybe I'm just too old or something....

Hey here's a thought.... These songs aren't supposed to "get you excited". It isn't that kind of album. Get it people? I've never read so many reviews talking about what an album ISN'T instead of what it is. If you don't like it fine, but don't write crap about how quiet and mellow it is, as if that is some sort of negative against it. Sorry Wilco isn't making the "cool alternative" music you want them to....

How nice of you! And really, who gives a crap?
  19. I sure don't hear (or not hear) what you are hearing. Walken sounds exactly the same as all the live versions I've heard. Missing some energy? Of course it is. It isn't a live version. Seesh. Go give the new Lucinda another chance before you bash these, ok?
  20. Not sure what you mean by that exactly, but Jeff has said that he wanted his new material to be more "soulful" and less abstact. I'm all for this after YHF and AGIB, as much as I liked those discs. Maybe you should go listen to some Modest Mouse or something. I NEVER saw Wilco as a "alternative band". Just a great band.
  21. Yeah, I'm sure all Jeff cares about is getting your pathetic dollar. Man oh man! I bet Jeff would gladly give you your money back..... Folks, this is the main reason artists hate when their discs leak out.
  22. Not sure where you're "poking", but I've read several posts now confiming this is with The Cardinals.
