  1. Did anyone ever just turn around and tell them to "shut the f--k up"? It either works or makes things worse. I would have tried to get them thrown out. Why is it "ok" to put up with people yelling shit out at an acoustic show?? Because they serve booze there? Doesn't work for me. You paid good money to see a performer, I don't care if it's Jeff Tweedy or Guns and freaking Roses. You shouldn't have to put up with it...
  2. What's the deal there? I missed that bit of rock trivia. Sounds good though!
  3. Please explain this comment because "getting into" new albums is one of the few things that gets me out of bed in the morning....
  4. Lame that they actually want to make a living or lame that the path is mismarked? I think they used to give it away when it first came out..
  5. Did people also not listen to the last Son Volt disc?? It is fantastic! But yeah, Gob Iron is wonderful.
  6. Agreed. Who is going to want to see that from the trailer?? Is it like the cool new thing to put comedy actors in serious roles? No thanks. As for the song, it is great. How can anyone deny the power of Vedder's voice, even if you aren't into PJ.
  7. Because it wasn't all that great?
  8. I think maybe we need to actually define underated. I mean, who does think these guys are great songwriters-public or critics? And I saw George Harrison above which doesn't qualify. He's a freaking Beatle and All Things Must Pass is known to be one of the best albums of all time. To me the perfect example is someone like Amiee Mann or Josh Rouse.
  9. That movie is great! It's like a indie Spinal Tap but BJTM isn't kidding. Problem is, the movie made me want to check out their music and you what, it's all pretty horrible.
  10. If Nirvana:Live Tonight Sold Out counts, it is excellent. Also, 1991-The Year Punk Broke The Last Waltz Woodstock Janis The Kids Are Alright
  11. It really sucks because it seemed like the whole reason he broke Phish up was to get away from it. Well, now it seems like Phish might as well have stayed together. What a waste.
  12. But Zwan sounded exactly like the Pumpkins so when I heard that I felt like what was the point. At least his solo disc was him trying to do something different. Why would you want him to do the same old same old? Or any band for that matter. Now what I would love to hear are all those acoustic/electric Zwan songs he recorded. I know the Zwan show I saw he played maybe one song that actually made the disc. The rest I've never heard again. Are those out there anywhere?
  13. Nice list but I really want someone to explain the Jenny Lewis thing to me.
  14. For the record, I love the solo disc AND thought Machina was fantastic. How can anyone say the songs on Machina aren't great, if overproduced. Now, would I love to hear the demos to those-hell yes. The solo disc is one of the reasons I thought of him and this thread. Talk about an underrated disc. Unfortunatly, I'm sure the public responce to it is the main reason he felt he should put The Pumpkins name back out there, which is just kind of sad. I just think it's weird that as huge as they were and with so many new bands obviously influenced by them, you never hear people talk about The Pum
  15. Before the forum went down there was the cool thread of underated songwriters. I thought of another one today- Billy Corgan. His lyrics and melodies are some of the best ever, especially the lyrics....
  16. Guess that didn't work out so well for him.....
  17. What, your post?? There are two more albums up now. Called "Sad Dracula". More "song" oriented than the rest of the stuff.
  18. OK, I can't say I'm a fan of the rap version of Isis and You're a Big Girl Now! Man, that will not go over well with most Dylan fans...
  19. I was just going to post about these. The best stuff is on the "Warren Peace". I'm liking Ryan more and more every day. This stuff is just nuts!
  20. It sounds great to based on this: http://66.113.175.214/discs/index-gobiron.htm
  21. Over produed?? How so? I think everything is very tastefully done. I love the Ryan-ized Songbird and think Willie does a really nice job on Stella Blue.
  22. Oh man, that's actually the one I meant! I always thought that was The Wizard. This is the one that starts with the bell right?
  23. Oh, and how did I forget the best ever- Don't Fear the Reeper-BOC
