  1. Just back in Burlington from Boston and Concord -- had a terrific time at both shows. Agree with much of what has been said in this thread. Boston was clearly ready for some Wilco as the city had not had a "proper" show in a few years. The energy was palpable from the Price is Right intro all the way to the end of the show -- much like the Montrel show in February. I think there were some folks in Concord who were less familiar with the band, but from my seat it was all good for the entire show. It was great to not have to deal with sit down/stand up thing at either of these two shows!
  2. Heading to Boston as well... also will be in Concord and Hartford. Been watching the set lists -- looks like lots of fun for all!!! Also, it appears that some sweet (and early) spring weather will be setting in for New England which will be nice. The end of March/early April usually sucks -- so it will be nice to be able to enjoy Boston on warm and sunny spring day.
  3. Agreed! Funeral is almost a perfect record. I love Neon Bible, but it doesn't touch Funeral in my view... Being from the North Country (Burlington, VT) -- I have seen these folks a few times at La Sala Rosa in Montreal in 04 and 05 before they really hit it big. An amazing live band...
  4. My parents ran one of the very few elementary boarding schools in the country during the 70's and 80's. The North Country School in Lake Placid, NY is a progressive school with a top notch academic program. In addition, the school sits on 450 acres of beautiful land in the heart of the Adirondacks and has a full scale farm and garden operation that provides almost all of the food for staff and children. In the early and middle 70's, Matthew Salinger (JD's only son) was a student at NCS. JD would come to the campus three or four times a year to visit Matthew and spend time with the student
  5. Love this!!! Now, we have to live the mess that MA has created. Gridlock beyond belief...
  6. Yes, bring back the Total Pros!!!
  7. I agree. The show was terrrifc and the venue totally kicks ass! They only do four shows each summer at this site - they should do double that. For me, the soundcheck was the highlight of the day! Just kicking back with 30/40 or so folks at the soundboard watching them rip through In A Future Age and Muzzle of Bees was amazing. Here's hoping the rumor becomes reality.
  8. Whoa!!! What an exhausting experience. Got two 6th row seats for Concord which is great, and then was shut out for Boston for a while. So, I gave up... At about 10:55 -- I tried again and pulled 2 for Row H/Orhestra at the Orpheum. Go figure... I agree with an earlier post that a mail order program is a better and fairer way to do this... Anyhow, I am totally psyched for Quebec City and Montreal in February and Boston and Concord in April. Also hearing rumors here in Burlington (where Higher Ground is based) that the band will play the Green at Shelburne Museuem again in late June!
  9. This is real welcome news as 2010 rolls in... I plan to see Providence, Boston, and Concord. Add that to Quebec City and Montreal, and that's a pretty good start to the year! Happy New Year Everyone...
  10. Kalle: If you can make a weekend of it -- you should. I love a Saturday night GA show! Montreal is an outstanding city with tons of great things to do and see. Even though the Canadian dollar and the US dollar are equal right now -- it's a very cheap time of year to stay in the city. You can a great room in a killer part of town for no more than $120 -- lots on the lower end as well. Enjoy...
  11. This is an excellent venue -- yes, they do remove the seats for GA shows! It sounds a lot better than The Metropolis (which doesn't sound that bad) and is far this congested and stuffy if they don't over sell the show. Great location - easy access from the Metro and all things in downtown Montreal. Well worth the road trip for this show... The bands' last two shows at Metropolis were both excellent - they seem to enjoy the Montreal crowd very much.
  12. Very psyched for Ottawa and Montreal - The Olympia in Montreal is a beautiful theatre. Anyone know anything about the Ottawa venue? Sorry to the Vancouver folks - you seem to getting screwed lately on shows. You haven't had a GREAT one since the show at the Commodore during the YHF tour... Go to Seattle and Portland!
  13. I agree with the above - I would add the show from the Gibson Rooftop in Memphis, TN (also and amazing sdbd) as another great version of this song. The entire show is terrific. It shows the four piece version of Wilco at their best...
  14. KevinG Send me your address and I will gladly share a Waffles invite with you. It needs to be sent directly to a live email account in order for you to accept and start using the service. Also, download Transmission - it is way better than the other BitTorrent clients.
  15. The 7 Worlds Collide is up on Waffles... One listen and I really like it - so much music - it will require a bunch of listens... Oh yeah, GO BUY THE RECORD ON 9/29.
  16. Well... I don't think I will ever attend another ballpark-style show again. The set up is pretty unforgiving and creates a real disconnection with band and the music. The sound in bleachers was close to terrible, and though it was better up front, I was only okay. The large space created with the entire infield open is just plain weird and not satisfying. I have heard the band really fill up (with their sound) large places like Merriweather Post Pav, City Hall Park in NOLA, and Red Rocks. They were able to make those bigger venues fell smaller and intimate. I know they enjoy playing ne
  17. It appears that the band is getting a private tour of Obama's house today... www.politico.com - whiteboard section
  18. Very sad news... Agree with earlier post - "Off the Wall" is and outstanding record - listening to it now - WOW!!!
  19. Really loving this record a lot - one of the best of the year in my view... Seeing them in Montreal at Le Nacional on June 4th. Very excited to check out there live show and see if the arrangements and vocals hold up as well as they do on the record.
  20. I love this show: Toad's Place New Haven, CT 9/16/00 This is simply a terrific ROCK SHOW! Jay is on fire throughout and the show really demonstrates what an amazinf live player her was...
  21. Incredibly sad... Listening to 9/16/00 - Toad's Place - New Haven, CT right now. This is one amazing show and really demonstrates Jay's chops outside of the studio. RIP.
  22. Thanks - really enjoyed this a lot. Bryan did nice job with the interview...
  23. Front Gate is handling tix for all Wilco shows moving forward -- Front Gate also handles all Higher Ground ticketing as well. FG is way better than Music Today... Looking forward to the Lowell and Portland shows for sure - hope to make the Wolf Trap show as well.
  24. So beautiful - Jeff's voice is really on tonight
