You're welcome! The Umphrey's McGee records I've got are Anchor Drops, Live at the Murat, and Safety in Numbers. There are others, but I'd suggest going in that order. As for Minus the Bear, I've only heard their first three records, This is What I Know About Being Gigantic, Highly Refined Pirates and Menos el Oso.

I'm digging this. My very first thought was "man, these guys sound like Umphrey's McGee without the excessive jamming." I'm hearing some Minus the Bear too, particularly in the guitar work. Solid work, sir!

I can't answer your question about its status (or non-status) as a live tune, but I enjoy it on occasion - it's not in heavy rotation. Between this tune and The Thanks I Get, One True Vine and Let's Not Get Carried Away, I think SBS could have been a different record, but I'll take it just the same.

Which do you like more: live or on record?

"Everybody Needs Love" is splendid.

I've been in three bands, all with pretty bad names. 6th/7th Grade: This was when I first started playing guitar. We were called Love Life. High School: We were called "Al" because our drummer's crappy old used drum kit was a Talon brand, but the 't,' 'o' and 'n' were faded out. Inventive, I know. College: Formed a band called Sidewinder to play a one-off cancer benefit show. Definitely the best band [talent-wise] of the three.
