To echo the sentiments of other threads asking for good vibes, prayers - whatever people can offer - I too would like to ask for the same, as my mother, two older brothers and I laid my father to rest last week. He passed away Sunday, September 12th, tragically and unexpectedly, at the age of 60. My father nurtured my earliest interest in music and bought me my first guitar when I was 13. I've got plenty of songs in my library that remind me of him and offer comfort in this sad time, but I know that there are others I've probably not heard and could use at this time. I'd appreciate any

It's so true, re: Robert Plant. At least the music is great. Nice selections on your end.

I sent an e-mail to the store contact address to inquire on the status of mine...haven't heard a peep since my order confirmation. No shipping confirmation or anything.

I'll just add that mine isn't always focused on new music - more of an appreciation blog. -

The three chords played under the lyrics "open up, this is a raid" are spine-tingling.

Robert Plant, "Band of Joy"
choo-choo-charlie replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Someone Else's Song
I thought so too, considering the only versions I've heard are those by Uncle Tupelo and Tweedy solo. -
I was a big fan of the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss collaboration. His next record, "Band of Joy," has very much the same feel to it, including their take on "Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down." Streaming all week on NPR. Out on the same day as the Mavis Staples record...good week for roots/folk/Americana.

Halfway through first listen - amazing stuff. "Creep Along Moses" and "I Belong To The Band- Hallelujah" are stellar.

I'm hoping I'll get a similar message very soon...have been starting to worry since I hadn't heard anything else after my order confirmation arrived in my inbox a week ago.

Jenny and Johnny's I'm Having Fun Now was released on Tuesday. It's been streaming all week over at Spinner, and probably through the weekend. I'd also recommend checking out the Carl Broemel album over on Spinner too. http://www.spinner.com/new-releases

For me, open G and D are the staples, although I'm partial to G. And actually, recently, I've been figuring out how to play all sorts of Wilco tunes using open G instead of standard tuning, and it's been a tremendous exercise. Helps you learn new chord voicings, fingerings - and you get some really awesome tones. And it has actually demonstrated, for me at least, that a lot of Jeff's songs are deceptively simple, yet require some good technique. It's amazing how many songs you can pull of with an opening tuning.
