I've always known what "jumped the shark" means, but never knew about its origins. According to Wiki, it came from Happy Days.

Post a link of yourself playing a Wilco cover
choo-choo-charlie replied to Dean M's topic in Just A Fan
Nice! I can only wonder how long Wilco's version would be if they played it at that tempo. -
Which is why I'm listening to these.

I'm usually one to criticize people for busting out the holiday music too early, but Matt Wilson has just been on fire with his last 3-4 releases. And Palmetto Records is one of the smart jazz labels for streaming their releases in their entirety online, this one included.

I came to know Joe's work back when he wrote for the Kansas City Star - never saw music-related material from him. Reading this brought tears to my eyes, particularly because I lost my father only two months ago.

I hadn't heard that - details?

Neither did I.

Post Good Religious Music here
choo-choo-charlie replied to uncool2pillow's topic in Someone Else's Song
The Ben Harper collaboration with The Blind Boys of Alabama is pretty solid all-around. The cover of the Bob Dylan/Danny O'Keefe track "Well, Well, Well" is worth the price alone. The first disc in the Cash set is secular material, the second is sacred - but both are phenomenal. It's like an audio autobiography; Cash made these recordings in his home studio and tells stories throughout about when he first discovered these songs, shares memories attached to them, etc. It's just voice and acoustic guitar. -

Yeah, noticed that. Thanks.

Songs/quotes/poems about life/death/dying/grief?

In connection to the other thread I started about two months ago when my father passed - thank you for tipping me off to this song. It's been in heavy rotation and extremely comforting. I don't if I ever would have heard it otherwise... -
It's streaming on Spinner all week: http://www.spinner.com/new-releases#/10.
