  1. Negotiating...negotiating...negotiating...negotiating. Lost connection. Refresh. Repeat.
  2. Can't get the connection to work! It keeps negotiating and timing out. Will keep refreshing...
  3. I'm confused. Is the sarcasm font on my computer not working?
  4. I have an Epiphone Valve Junior Combo. One 8" speaker, one volume knob, no more, no less. And it's the sweetest 5W I've ever played with, for a practice amp, that is.
  5. I suppose that's true. That's what I think a lot of people are really trying to say when they do that.
  6. I love hitting up an independent store as much as the next person, but that's a bit of an inappropriate sweeping generalization there. I've yet to ever encounter an arrogant hipster at a GC. And I've yet to encounter a-hole at a local shop. I guess I've just been lucky.
  7. Paul also worked them to death on "I Will." I think Ringo went nuts from having to play a f*ckin' woodblock for 167 takes.
  8. No, but I think you might have more luck asking here: http://forums.viachicago.org/forum/19-tongue-tied-lightning/
  9. That's a low-key beginning, but a great one! And I keep forgetting how awesome "The Good Part" is...they played it in Kansas City in 2006. It was my first Wilco show and I remember thinking "what the hell is this? it's awesome! and why isn't it on a record!?!?"
  10. Gotcha. I think that style of lead guitar would sound pretty good in the messy guitar break in "Taxman" or the feedback in the opening of "It's All Too Much." But the coda to "She's so Heavy" would probably be a good fit for a noisy Wilco crescendo...but I suppose that's why everyone says "A Day in the Life" would be such a perfect tune for Wilco to play.
  11. What does that even mean? The sound? The lineup of that record? Or would a Being There-era Wilco sound better? Or the current lineup?
  12. I think there are some free programs out there that allow you to record a webcast. Started researching them to record the last webcast Wilco did and got pulled into something else, so I never figured it out...maybe someone here knows more.
  13. Heard "Box Full of Letters" while having Valentine's Day dinner at Legal Seafood in Washington, D.C. Strange.
  14. So you're not a big jam band guy? I kid, I kid...I can dig some UM, Phish and Grateful Dead. I went through a big Phish, Widespread Panic and String Cheese Incident phase back in high school. Friends who rode in my car must have been so annoyed to have to always listen to 17-minute jams...
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jeff come out of rehab in 2004? I think the term "recently-clean" doesn't really apply anymore when reporters are talking about Tweedy...that was six years ago, people.
  16. Thanks for this - I've never seen it. And I'm pretty sure there are some inaccuracies in there. I think Bob Egan got booted from Wilco long before 1999. And it says "Leroy Bach joins Wilco" in 1999 and "Bach joins the band full-time" in 2001. I thought he joined them in 1998 for the Mermaid Avenue tour. Yes? No? Anyone?
  17. 'Tis a good disc. Worth it just to have the early version of "Until You Came Along" and "Love and Mercy." ...but it is worth it to also have these, 'cause there are some good tracks on both that aren't on the compilation...
  18. Indeed. Typos happen. I've seen some posters around here type "Nel's" before too. Oh well, I luv Willcoah...
  19. I'd love to hear the current lineup play the old arrangement of "Sunken Treasure." But that IS a killer opening.
