  1. I imagine Born Alone, along with Whole Love, Dawned on Me, and I Might, will be a wise choice for Wilco to play when they are featured on the various talk shows. It's a good slice of Wilco and a great representative of The Whole Love.
  2. I have a Dillon Fence album, as well as the entire Hobex collection, plus a solo Greg Humphreys cd. Good stuff! I'd tell you all whom I've met privately, but Bob Dylan advised me to never drop names.
  3. Tweedy has also "covered" Beyonce's "Put a Ring on It."

  5. The Whole Love blows... ...the last album and a half completely away! Art of Almost oughta be outrageous live!!!
  6. That Benz can be had for a song, possibly a jingle.
  7. W(TA) is my least favorite Wilco album. Their are parts of it I want to like, but I can't sustain longterm interest. Recently, however, I came across the Martha Quinn interview of Bob Dylan in 1984 in which he discusses an apparent rejection by fans and critics of Shot of Love and Street Legal. Dylan's take is that those albums weren't rooted in his earlier music, so his listeners couldn't attach what they've experienced to what those two albums presented to them. "They have no history." Just made me wonder if this idea of an abruption in album progression might be in play when it comes to how
  8. Just lucky enough to run into one/the wind was blowing out/I put the bat on the ball and it went out/it happens sometimes/I'm just glad we got the "W"/it's not about me
  9. I hope The Whole Love is more towards Handshake Drugs than drugstore music.
  10. Thank you for you're kind words, kidsmoke. Nothing precious was lost. They were all quick to remove everything from the damaged areas. She'd rather lose the entire house than his memorials, some of which were handmade by caring people (some of whom she doesn't even know).
  11. 3 feet maybe? The timber rattlesnake inhabits much of the eastern US. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7147.html
  12. Ugh, I hate to dash anyone's hope, but I live in eastern NC where Irene hit. Status for my area: not good. Irene was massive and slow moving as a hurricane. It took her about 36 to come into NC and leave in total width (almost the size of Texas). I've been through several of these, and I can tell you that this one was the most relentless because of how slow-moving it was. Floyd in '99 was more intense and caused far more damage, but it only hung around for about ten hours. Irene drenched us with over a foot of rain, and she hated trees - there are thousands of them down across the region (prob
  13. You're real name wouldn't be Allcot Assgang, would it?
  14. I bought this when it came out in the 90's. I remember the liner notes being a good read.
  15. I don't like whooping - ever! it's especially annoying during a quiet moment, like Tweedy performing Sunken Treasure on his solo DVD. I can't imagine a performer feeling appreciated by a primal scream during a reflective moment.
  16. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2011/08/baltimore-orioles-mike-flanagan-found-dead/1 Former Orioles pitcher, coach, broadcaster, GM Mike Flanagan, age 59, found dead at home. RIP to the former Cy Young winner.
  17. 1. YHF 2. BT 3. AGIB 4. ST 5. AM 6. SBS 7. W(TA) I consider AM and SBS to be a tie really. AM needed just a little more work, but it doesn't have Leave Me Like You Found Me, which I loathe enough to not want to play the album in its entirety. Even though You Are My Face trumps anything on AM, I'm more likely to listen to AM. I'm projecting (hoping) that TWL will be the new #5.
  18. Gas stations have apps?
  19. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/24/us/24quake.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1 No significant damage, thankfully. The quake was felt from Ontario to Alabama because it was 3.7 miles deep.
  20. At this point Hurricane Irene projects a likely path right through most of the areas that felt the earthquake, so I'm really hoping there's no major damage with the quake. There's not a whole lot of clean up time between now and Fri/Sat landfall.
