This. And The Flaming Lips. I've tried to get them, but still cannot stomach more than 5 minutes of either band. Phish is my other big one. It's not jambands in general (I'm a MASSIVE Umphrey's fan), it's just Phish. I enjoy probably 2% of what I hear them do. Most of the improv I hear that people have recommended just goes absolutely nowhere. That song for example. I enjoyed maybe 45 seconds to a minute of it near the end before the vocals came back in. I think they're a "you had to be there" type of band.

In no particular order: Eddie Vedder: The Bushnell - Hartford, CT: I already knew from seeing PJ a bunch of times that Ed could put on a show, but holy crap, I was not prepared. I used to be a rail rider, but now I prefer back by the soundboard. It just sounds better and is usually less of a shit show. I've waiting a long amount of time in my day though. For the U2 show at Gillette a few years ago I got to the stadium at around noon for a 5 o'clock doors for7 o'clock show. Lots of standing at that one. Totally worth it though, to be inside the ring

I meant to say that Tedeschi Trucks was original, and Noel was a breath of fresh air. His stuff still sounds extremely Beatles-esq, and very much like Noel Gallagher's writing, which makes sense, but I enjoyed it more than anything he's put out since Morning Glory

Wellll no haha. Just my opinion obviously, but a good chunk of the new stuff I've listened to this year felt a lot of the same old stuff to me. Either artists reprising something that I got bored of 3 years ago, or just taking steps backwards. Thats how I felt about a good chunk of the major bands that released stuff this year. I'd say the Tedeschi Trucks Band album was probably the most original thing I've heard this year. I have yet to hear anything that sounds remotely like it, and its a very nice breath of fresh air, as was Noel's. Maybe its because its nice to hear some distinctly Br

I think the Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds album deserves a place on any best of the year list. Better songwriting than most of what came out this year
