  1. Yeah, I have a good deal of shows, so I think I have all those covers, but covering a Beatles song and writing guitar parts like that are two completely different entities. He really had the sound down. Right down to the tone
  2. That's gonna be awesome. You're very lucky! I saw the Dan three times last year, and all of them were fantastic (all my recordings are on the Traders Den if anybody is interested.) I've been loving the title track off of the Royal Scam recently. Such a damn good groove
  3. I wasn't fortunate enough to be a fan of his music while he was alive, but in the past 5ish years he has become one of my all time favorites. I was just listening to Figure 8 yesterday and thinking about how some of the guitar parts were just so incredibly genius. The chorus of LA for example. The electric guitars are so awesomely Beatles-esq
  4. Seeing moe. tonight at the HOB
  5. He's a very fun drummer. I like to call him Smiley
  6. ^ yeah, they have. Mike McCready from Pearl Jam did the soundtrack for one episode too.
  7. This. And The Flaming Lips. I've tried to get them, but still cannot stomach more than 5 minutes of either band. Phish is my other big one. It's not jambands in general (I'm a MASSIVE Umphrey's fan), it's just Phish. I enjoy probably 2% of what I hear them do. Most of the improv I hear that people have recommended just goes absolutely nowhere. That song for example. I enjoyed maybe 45 seconds to a minute of it near the end before the vocals came back in. I think they're a "you had to be there" type of band.
  8. Not sure if anybody here watches Fringe, but California Stars is playing in the background at the end of the most recent episode. I thought it was pretty cool!
  9. Umphrey's McGee tonight at the House of Blues Boston and tomorrow at the Electric Factory in Philly
  10. according to the gear interview he uses a spring
  11. Another day, another reason to hate Ticketbastard. Got completely shut out of Boston
  12. Zeppelin won't happen. Floyd is the newest rumor that I've heard, but I'd bet that won't happen either. I could see Paul and Ringo playing together (maybe with the sons of the other two)
  13. In no particular order: Eddie Vedder: The Bushnell - Hartford, CT: I already knew from seeing PJ a bunch of times that Ed could put on a show, but holy crap, I was not prepared. By far the best acoustic so I've ever seen (yes, I've seen Jeff, and this was better). One of the most moving moments I've ever seen live came when Ed got the news that Clarence Clemons had passed. He sat still for 30 seconds or a minute and then proceeded to play one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen. Umphrey's McGee: House of Blues - Boston, MA This was my 11th time seeing them I believe, and
  14. In no particular order: Wilco - The Whole Love Umphrey's McGee - Death By Stereo Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator Tres. Mts. - Three Mountains
  15. ^ not really, no. If you want to keep your spot you don't leave (at least at most of the shows I've been to)
  16. haha, yeah. It was definitely a little crazy for a few minutes there. It was a very cool experience being so close to such a massive band though especially with the however many thousands of people behind you
  17. I used to be a rail rider, but now I prefer back by the soundboard. It just sounds better and is usually less of a shit show. I've waiting a long amount of time in my day though. For the U2 show at Gillette a few years ago I got to the stadium at around noon for a 5 o'clock doors for7 o'clock show. Lots of standing at that one. Totally worth it though, to be inside the ring
  18. I meant to say that Tedeschi Trucks was original, and Noel was a breath of fresh air. His stuff still sounds extremely Beatles-esq, and very much like Noel Gallagher's writing, which makes sense, but I enjoyed it more than anything he's put out since Morning Glory
  19. Wellll no haha. Just my opinion obviously, but a good chunk of the new stuff I've listened to this year felt a lot of the same old stuff to me. Either artists reprising something that I got bored of 3 years ago, or just taking steps backwards. Thats how I felt about a good chunk of the major bands that released stuff this year. I'd say the Tedeschi Trucks Band album was probably the most original thing I've heard this year. I have yet to hear anything that sounds remotely like it, and its a very nice breath of fresh air, as was Noel's. Maybe its because its nice to hear some distinctly Br
  20. I think the Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds album deserves a place on any best of the year list. Better songwriting than most of what came out this year
  21. I think I just made the last minute decision to go see Beady Eye at the HOB tonight
