The American Radiohead
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Shakespeare In The Alley's topic in Just A Fan
It was my favorite Radiohead album 'till I (very recently) realized that In Rainbows is everything good about them in 43 filler-less minutes. The Bends is still great though. To be perfectly honest, I could take Rainbows, Bends and Computer, then half of HTTT and call it a day on the entire Radiohead front. -

I'm a pretty big Radiohead fan, but these days the only album of theirs that I think stands a chance against Wilco's elite three (BT-YHF, obviously) is In Rainbows. -

Amazon always does that, and probably will until they've stolen as much of iTunes' audience as possible. They take a major hit in doing so, but I guess there's a longterm benefit. -

Well TV appearances are iffy in general. They're not really for the hardcore fans, I guess, so it's not a huge deal. Secret of the Sea was a great one though. Jay's coat -

Nitpicking, but people show excitement in different ways. My friend had a great time but she basically stood still behind me in the pit the whole time. Not everyone jumps up and dances while excited by a concert. -

I think this is now the only poster I've bought that isn't 18x24 (or 24x18). Generally speaking, they are standard sizes. And yes, it's great that they do them. More bands should, even if it's tour posters instead of individual shows. -

Excellent! Thank you. Just ordered it. $8 for shipping is not bad at all. The Wlco merch dude wasn't sure if the band would put any online, so this is a nice surprise. Thanks again! -

You know, you're right. I guess I was thinking of some of the other standards that they'd cut down this tour. Carry on. -

I'm sure the next leg will have another show near me (Richmond ideally, but Charlottesville works too), and they always seem to whip out the better setlists on the second or third legs of an album release tour, so I'm not worried about it. Still a great show, especially the last few songs. I'm bummed the posters were sold out though. -
Official reviews of The Whole Love
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
Pitchfork scores are always pointless. Read the review itself and it's obvious the reviewer was very impressed. The 6.9 just means this won't be on their album of the year lists. -

I'm spoiled because one of my 4 Wilco shows was the Lyric in 2008 where they were all over AM/BT, and another was an Evening With tour, where they were all over everything. Even though I was kinda meh when Shot started, it did kick serious ass when it got to the chorus. -

I was pretty disappointed with the setlist, tbh. Recent shows hadn't had songs like Drummer or Man Who Loves You, but last night's did. I think the NPR broadcast kinda pressured them to play more of the hits, which was a bit unfortunate. I was hopping they'd bring out some more rare songs, though Box Full of Letters was a nice surprise. Still, great show. Monday->Outtasite is just the best way to end a set. -
Should Wilco Start Playing Larger Venues?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to dark's topic in Just A Fan
This is exactly what they do though. No venue is gonna let the band's presale put all the tickets up for sale, and it's a marvel that Wilco is able to do presales at all. If they could get more than 10% of the seats for their presales I'm sure they would. But it's not up to the band. Wilco does more than most bands, but they can only go so far. -

I do not agree. Though I do like The Whole Love quite a bit. -

It's fun, but if it starts being a frequent/regular thing it'll be extremely annoying. -
Do You Consider Wilco A Jam Band?
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to xTonyWonder's topic in Just A Fan
Not that I think Wilco's a jam band, but having lyrics isn't what makes a band a not a jam band. -

There you go. The YHF story is great drama. The average music/Wilco fan hasn't read it a billion times, so it can still capture attention. No music publication is (or should be) writing reviews for the band's hardcore fans, so the story's an easy attention grabber for them. -

I Might is the single, so it's almost a given for the show, right? -
Does this include the CD versions? If so, how much for the deluxe?
