i dont know if its fair to compare a garlin/david interview to a garlin/anyone else interview, given the insane amount of chemistry those two have built up over the years on curb. that being said i havent had time to listen to any of these yet

good lord, i don't really care one way or the other about hamilton but does it really bother you so much that people around him take so many precautions to keep him healthy? i can see being upset about his slumps on the field but its a little weird to get so worked up about a guy trying to stay clean off of it. its not like he chose to need so much help.

yeah wreckroom is incredible. i wish jeff had more stuff like that this album as a whole is one of my favorite tweedy releases though. probably sneaks in the top 5 for me. love it. hopefully its not the last loose fur release.

havent seen the doc yet but i bought both albums semi recently and love them, cold fact especially. thats one of the best things ive heard in a long time. if a slightly exaggerated movie gets more people into that music, thats not a bad deal at all. seems ridiculous to get that worked up about it

now that's optimism unless the nats/braves, reds/cardinals/brewers, dodgers/giants all beat each other up so bad all season, no way do the wild card spots go to anyone else. theres some almost great teams in the nl (cubs and pirates among them) but id be shocked if the playoffs see anyone outside of those teams. id love to be wrong though. (just not about the nats )

theres a huge difference between dissing a band and speaking critically. i see a lot of the latter here, not so much the former. dissing a band to get a reaction is tacky, merely expressing negative thoughts is not. again, why would you think jeff is so sensitive that he couldnt handle reading negative posts here? no way is he deluded enough to believe every wilco fan likes all his songs. id think he'd like reading the negative posts more than the positive, but thats just me. at the end of the day he's gonna write the songs he wants to write, but i dont see why he wouldn't want to know which

so because this is a wilco fanboard its weird for people to think some wilco stuff is bad or less than great? i dont get it. wilco's a great band but there's plenty of room for criticism. not sure why that bothers or confuses so many people

yeah the delmon young signing was a shocker. a cheap one (i trust you saw that he can essentially double his salary by not being a fatass all season?) but still. there's a lifelong american leaguer if ever there was one. braves are looking scary this season. should be another tight race for the nl east.

I don't get this at all. What's wrong with expressing disinterest? Isn't that part of music discussion? Second, I really doubt/hope the band isn't so sensitive about their music that a couple negative posts on a message board gets to them. Not bad. Nice to see him work with a dirtier rock sound again. Prince is a top 5 artist for me, and I'll always give him my attention when he puts new stuff out, but he badly needs to work with a producer or someone to help him focus and put out a genuine classic. His recent albums have had their share of gems, but plenty of duds and stuff that's not really bad but just falls completely flat to me. It's weird that his 80's stuff can sound so fresh to this day, while the modern work sounds most dated. He's still got it, but I wish he'd take the time to put a good band/studio crew together (m

now this is a really, really great show. probably my favorite thing currently running. the best thing i can say about it is its not afraid to not be a comedy. the god episode is outstanding stuff.

id read a lot of hype about guitar romantic from people i really respect on another board, and it absolutely lived up to it. i played the shit out of that record when i first bought it, and it blew me away. i pull it off the shelf more often than almost any other album i own and it always gives me this giddy thrill that very few bands can match. its just the perfect kind of sloppy teenage punk rock

the tab episode of the sarah silverman program remains one of the funniest things ive ever seen but you're basically right, it's a great shitty show

would love either of these if its gonna be a SDRE album, the time is now to release it and tour. dave's current project probably isn't gonna a fulltime touring commitment, and the Foo Fighters are on a bit of a hiatus, so nate's probably as free as he'll ever get. if not, a jeremy solo record would be nice. been playing return of the frog queen a lot lately. not quite up to SDRE standards, but really nice stuff.

i dont know that id want a whole album of that anymore (though i do love those touches on AM and BT), but it'd be nice to get a song or two on the enxt record. im not sure if tweedy can still tap into that sound or not.

one of the best of last year. anything we want might have been my most played song i think when the pawn is her best album, but idler wheel is very close. extraordinary machine is a solid album too her debut is good but not great. criminal's a great song, and there are several others, but its the least interesting of all her work

nice. keep in mind heartbreaker is his masterpiece, and if you like those three albums (mostly JCN and SA) you'll absolutely love heartbreaker

id say all three whiskeytown albums are essential if you like his more country side. strangers almanac is my favorite, but theyre all solid.

i also really enjoyed undeclared, but it doesnt have the spark that made freaks and geeks so good. probably didnt help that i watched both shows back to back but undeclared is definitely the lighter show. maybe just because freaks and geeks felt like a new perspective on a high school setting while undeclared was more of your standard college comedy, idk, but it didn't leave me totally blown away like freaks and geeks did. that said, it's got a good cast and the story arcs aren't bad, and id definitely recommend it to any freaks and geeks fan

yeah, as much as id like to have more episodes to watch, it really is such a perfectly contained season of television. the ending is just so strong that i cant imagine being able to top it. gonna need to run through the show sometime. its been a while
