I remember reading that Replacements fans were up in arms about Petty stealing Westerberg lines after that tour. Lines like "Rebel without a clue" among others.

I think some of that has to be the venues involved? Wilco is playing larger venues so I think maybe it's a bit harder to "connect".

I remember Anthony Junior had a prominent Sugarcult poster in his room. The singer in the band is my cousins neighbor and said there was a production designer on the show that was a big fan. I suspect production designer bias has the most to do with these things.

The onion had an interesting article about fictional characters assigned questionable taste in music. They mentioned that Nick Sobotka from season 2 of the Wire had a guided by voices "Universal truths and cycles" poster on his wall. Have to admit I did not notice that at the time but I have to agree, I don't see any way that Nick Sobotka was a guided by voices fan.

I enjoyed the news much more when the Tea Partiers were called the Teabaggers.
