I don't remember which box we were in, but here are my pictures from the Katrina benefit show last November.

"I did not have sex with that young boy . . ."

I'd be interested to hear what their upbringing was like. Anyone ever seen The Boys of St. Vincent? It's an amazing movie, although probably the most depressing and disturbing thing I've ever seen. -
Yeah, but I've seen them plenty of times without barricades, with stages low enough to be easily jumped onto, and no trouble at all. The Fillmore and the Greek Theater in LA come to mind most readily. Maybe it's the laid-back California attitude that lets them know they can trust us?

It's right there and it's a cool place. Although you could easily drink your way up and down Columbus for a year and never hit every cool spot.

The Hilton? And did you have a pint or two or three at Fiddler's Green?

Random gossip from an untrustworthy source alert: I was getting a manicure at the Mirage (which is where this show happens, and staying there is great, because every public space, from the casino to the restaurants to the pool, has Beatles music piped in; also: majorly cool merch in the Love Boutique), and the manicurist told me that while they were working on the show, Paul McCartney stayed there on occasion, and more than once had every manicurist in the hotel sent up to his floor to give manicures to his whole entourage. She said he was very nice, very friendly (her exact words: "so much

There's a good story in the SF Chronicle today about the history of the chain, and specifically the store here, at Columbus and Bay on the edge of North Beach. When I was in junior high and high school, a trip in to the city to Tower Records was a big deal, a full-day adventure. And the open-til-midnight-every-day policy was fabulous; I remember more than once seeing stories on the 11:00pm news on christmas eve with live shots of people buying last-minute gifts at Tower.

If that's the standard we're going by, I think we're all in trouble! I wish I'd realized it was your birthday earlier, I would have made an effort to get those DVDs out to you in time for them to be a present. They'll be your belated gift, anyway.

You can tell by the wristbands that Glenn's a total tough. I was actually surprised that none of the other guys jumped into it. It looks like it happened really quickly though, I'm sure they were all stunned. That was totally a defensive move on Jeff's part, doesn't look like he manhandled the guy in any way beyond what was necessary to get him off of his head.

Myla Goldberg's best line last night, in response to the stupidest question of the night:

What is with these people who really believe that their spouses are going to change "the minute we get married, I promise!!!"

The "real" reason Blue Mountain broke up...
gogo replied to John Hardy's topic in Someone Else's Song
The "Lite Brite" album. I'd also like a copy of that one. There's also Holler, before Big Black River. Do you have that one? I'll yousendit both of these to you tonight, if you'd like. -
I recently finished the Craig Ferguson book as well. I heard him read a bit of it and speak here recently, and he's great. Funny, smart, and charming, of course. But wow, does he ever have some wacko groupies. I'm considering going to this tonight: A TALK WITH A DISEASE-NERD NOVELIST, BANJO PLAYER AND INDIE-ROCK MUSE You had me at "disease nerd".

The "real" reason Blue Mountain broke up...

I believe Cary and Laurie split before the band broke up. No matter how much they wanted to keep the band together, that would have to be a less-than-ideal situation... -
yourself! I didn't have the ringer on on my phone last night, but I checked it before I went to bed, and... "oh, two missed calls... oh, and one of them's Nat!" I'm so out of it, I forgot you'd be calling from the show. Anyway, I went to sleep with sweet sweet Wilco ringing in my ears.

Watch the Californians being extra-freaked out by this. So glad to hear you weren't hurt. Be careful in the snow, all you cold-weather dwellers!!!

No more gold and silver memberships, it's all donations now. I think it used to be $10 for gold, $5 for silver, but I'm sure solace would be happy to accept whatever you feel is right.

Ha, you quoted the one line of my post that I was editing at that exact moment! Never heard the Ted Leo version, but I'm always open to new interpretations. I will say that The Pogues' Irish Rover is one of theirs that isn't the real deal, not without The Dubliners singing/playing along with them, anyway.

VC has changed my life (for better or for worse? ); we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude.

She's the only one of us who came home with any money, she's about $300 richer than she was on Friday, so that's not too shabby. I think Andrew is deserving of some kind of VIP pass to next year's festival... for all your years of dedication to the company, maybe?
