  1. Yay Thanksgiving birthdays! Happy day!

    Promo LPs

This one pops up pretty often on eBay. And here's one with a good shot of the cover.
  3. Geek alert!!! According to http://wilcobase.com, shows this year have averaged 21.1 songs/show. Even if you just look at the shows in October (to take out any short festival sets over the summer), the average for those was 21.4. So this show, at 22, looks pretty average. God, I love wilcobase. Also, the "funky rhythm" on the new song: is that like a funk funky rhythm, or (I'm guessing from the "stopping and restarting" comment) more of a weird funky rhythm? The public demands answers! Oh, and of course: Congrats to the Stirratts! Yay babies! And one more: Jealous!
  4. More info, please! Also: any Stirratt baby announcement?
  5. It's a fact!!! Thanks for the lovely birthday wishes, all you beautiful VCers!
  6. I know there's already a really good Giving Thanks thread over in the random forum, but I think some people don't even stick their noses in there. So Umm-ers, re-post here if you like. There are some very nice posts over there. But for me, first of all: thanks to all of you. And for: Good health: both physical and mental, my own and the people around me. It's a fragile and precious thing, so if you've got it, do what you can to keep it; and if you don't, do what you can to make it better. Family: I'm ridiculously lucky to have the family I have, and I take them for granted far

    New Photos

I like the one of Tweedy at the '68 Olympics.
  8. I do wonder about this. Since Lenny Bruce, there's a tendency for comics to use language specifically for shock value, often without putting it into any meaningful context. Makes me wonder if his choice of that language was based (in part, maybe) on a misguided belief that a comic can make an outburst like that funny. Would he have given himself permission to go off like that if he didn't think that he could reel it back in and make it part of the show, act like he was making some kind of social commentary? It almost looks like he lost contol of his act, even more than losing control of hi
  9. He's already got more hair than oceanman's avatar! Congratulations!
  10. !!!!!! I forgot how classic that wedding was. Elizabeth Taylor was there! Also, in checking out that site for these pictures, I came across this important piece of information:
  11. Not only is Steve back from the dead, we've been reminiscing about the time that he had his eye restored somehow, but when the viewers demanded the patch back, he lost it again. In a different fiery explosion. My favorite L&L story: We knew a guy who lived with his elderly mother. One day he heard her screaming from her bedroom, and didn't know if she was being attacked, or had hurt herself somehow, or what. So he ran up the stairs, and when he got to the door of her room, he realized that what she was screaming was "Scotty caught the bouquet! Scotty caught the bouqet!!!"
  12. All three of my sister's kids were at least ten days late, and induced. And they are perfect (just like Brianne). So there you go. Actually, the middle one was the latest; she was due December 17, I think, so my mom had gone out and bought a bunch of "baby's first christmas" stuff. And then she didn't arrive until the 31st.
  13. Jon Carroll, an excellent columnist in the SF Chronicle, wrote something about reinstating the draft about a year ago. His point was not that a draft would cause the political leadership to reconsider going to war, but rather that the threat of a draft would cause the entire middle class to reconsider who they elect into those positions of leadership. The draft likely would still target minorities and the poor, but if there was even a chance that your child would be drafted, wouldn't you think long and hard about the reasons that your chosen candidates have put forward to support the current
  14. I think if they start inducing on the 21st, the baby probably won't be born until the next day... which means she or he will share a birthday with me! Sorry for all you people who are going to be at the show, but I think John should take the night off on Wednesday. Maybe Laurie could fill in for him.
  15. I watched Days in college, and was recently sucked back in by the "Steve and Kayla return!" storyline (pretty impressive, considering that Steve was killed in a fiery explosion about 15 years ago). It's amazing to me how many of the same characters are having the exact same dramas (and pretty much the same conversations) that they were having 20 years ago.
  16. That was not specified, although he did "whip something up" for her, so it's entirely possible. Also, he wrapped her sprained ankle in an ace bandage. Whose people get in touch with whom for a guest appearance like this? Does Smokey Robinson just put it out there that he'd like to appear on some crappy daytime TV to whore his new album, or do the Days of Our Lives producers go around asking aging pop stars if they'd be interested in doing some light acting, and maybe singing a song while two of the stars share a romantic moment? Also also, SPOILER ALERT
  17. I just always have to toss that in there! You should have seen the vague, practically-in-code e-mail I sent to my college roommate this week, asking her if she'd seen the episode where a certain person from Steve and Kayla's past knocks on the window of their hospital room...
  18. First of all: No spoilers! (OK, actually, I'd already seen this one ) And second of all: Marlena was ElectraWoman??? I had no idea!
  19. I'll see her sooner! The first time I met Brianne was in Des Moines, and I fell madly in love with her. And the last time I saw Brianne was in... Des Moines. Still madly in love. And I'll be seeing her soooooon! Yay! Happy Birthday!
  20. Yep. If you have any trouble with them, you can contact wilco hq.
  21. I've got no info for you, but just wanted to chime in with my love of this movie. Looking forward to the DVD extras. (using the pirate because I thought there was a geek smilie, which would be so appropriate for me, but I can't find one)
  22. Yeah, looks like a few ended yesterday afternoon: poster photo CD
  23. I vow to one day actually make it to one of these! Have fun, Sam!
  24. Sometimes they're the only way! I posted this in the Lost thread a few days ago, but I'll give it wider release here. Check out the title of the Lost recap on TWOP:
