True, but people weren't traveling in 1918 the way they are now. There are three confirmed cases in Sacramento, traced to a kid who went on a family vacation to Cancun. In 1918, no way that would have jumped across the state from Mexico like that. Also, we're continually chasing the flu. Getting a flu shot at the beginning of the season only protects you from whatever flu the experts think we're going to be exposed to in the coming year. A massive vaccination program like they did for swine flu in the 70s is an iffy proposition, for a couple of reasons. I don't think the vaccination

I think it's just hard for our 21-century brains to wrap around this. It doesn't seem possible that we could be brought down by something like the flu. But yeah, it's definitely possible. Hell, we can't stop lice from spreading through elementary schools.

Ha! And I don't know Jack! Donna, someone was saying somewhere around here that the balcony at the Wiltern is reserved seating , but I think there were only GA tickets available during the pre-sale. Hope that helps!
-
I think the rule of thumb for MusicToday was that 10% were available during the presale. Assuming the same is true for FrontGate, for the Wiltern, that's 230 tickets. Figure that most folks probably bought 2, that means only 115 people had to get on in the first minute, which is certainly possible in what is, as kidsmoke pointed out, a huge market. Yeah, pre-sales can be heartbreakers, no doubt about it.

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
gogo replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
LouieB has already hooked you up: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=35877 Have fun! -
Wasn't "did Glenn ever wear braces" the question that wasn't being answered by all us highy messed up freaks?

1. I am very excited at the prospect of an original Lackey design. 2. I'm still hoping that we're going to get other designs, too. Lots of good ideas have been tossed around in here, now let's see some action!

I'm thinking of closing this thread, and moving things over to a "now that we've all had a chance to see it..." thread. Because I think this thread is going to get crazy unwieldly, otherwise. Any objections?

Yes, the frontgate sale on the 22nd is the "pre-sale". You don't need an additional password for that, if you're logged in to frontgate, you'll have access to that sale.

The Wilco's are coming back to Vegas and, supposedly, Flagstaff?
gogo replied to luke79's topic in After The Show
Hey Luke, check out the Just A Fan forum, above. Discussion of upcoming shows usually goes up there. I'm seriously considering that Las Vegas show! -
Analogman was kind enough to track down some great information to get this thread started. Feel free to offer specifics from your own experiences.
-
Yeah, I'm kind of waiting for peoples' experiences to trickle down, for folks to offer specific tips, etc. I'll be very happy to revise/retire this thread!
-
Pre-sale on 4/22, per WilcoWorld.net.
-
Thanks!

There's some discussion of this in the thread for last night's show, in the After the Show subforum.
-
Huh. OK, I stand corrected. I will say, that's the only example I've ever heard of that. 99.9% of the time, it's the same ticket.
-
In that case, I'm a fan already!
-
No, all you get from the pre-sale is that you don't have to sweat the general sale. Same tickets either way.
-
I thought OKC was 10CT, Tucson and Pomona were 12CT? Although, Pomona was a few minutes early, I think. Worked for me, though!
-
Donna, it's on the Front Gate tickets site: http://wilco.frontgatetickets.com/

There are two sections at the Wiltern, but if I recall from the last time Wilco played there, it's first-come first-served to get into the front section. Once you're in there, you get a bracelet, so you can go for drinks, to the bathroom, whatever, and still get down to the front. Pre-sales generally only have about 10% of the available tickets, so if you don't get tickets at the pre-sale, you've still got a good chance at the regular sale, and getting there early will definitely get you a good spot. Good luck!

I believe the extras aren't available until the 18th (the official release date).

That is exactly why I won't bother with pre-order/pricey shipping from musictoday anymore. (Not so much the crushing part, although that's certainly another reason to go to the store for it.) I've had stuff I pre-order for "express" shipping arrive a day or two late, or not get left by UPS because I wasn't home to sign for it, or whatever; but it's not uncommon for folks to get their regular-shipping orders early, if USPS is on their toes. I'm happy for you folks. This is just a general musictoday-bitchery moment.

Folks, I'm going to start merging threads about shows in similar areas, on the same swing, whatever. Otherwise it's going to get crazy (crazier...) in here!

I enjoyed this festival last year, but it's pretty pricey.
