  1. I know I met legalsandwichmaneuver in Poughkeepsie a few years back, and I'm pretty sure I haven't had the pleasure of running into Gaz, but happy day to you both, anyway! And I'll toss in a for Trish, for good measure.
  2. I'm glad to hear that you have so many memories of your good times together, Kate. As the years pass, those will be the ones you'll take comfort from again and again. Much love to your whole family.
  3. Happy day, Lou! Keep those music recommendations coming!
  4. And by "they" you mean The American Public? If I was as pretty as Jason, I'd be thinking that all the time, too. I didn't think his Forever in Blue Jeans was so awful last night, but yeah, he's been phoning it in for a while now. I think he truly does not give a shit. Syesha does seem comfortable on stage, but I agree with the assessment that she should just head straight for a career in theater. I find her pretty boring in her less-theatrical performances.
  5. Yeah, I think I've posted in here already, that I'm hoping for Wilco to be headlining on the second-biggest stage, while Jack Johnson draws the majority of the crowd away to the big stage. And no show in SF the night before, they'll be in Bend, Oregon that night. Maybe the night after, though!
  6. Another year, another bump. I'm walking again, in case any missed it in my sig. http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides/MaudieMcCormick Thanks in advance, y'all.
  7. Much love to you and your family, Dunja.
  8. Single-day tickets go on sale Thursday morning.
  9. I drive almost never (bus to work, can walk or transit easily to most places I'm going), so it's not a huge issue for me. When I travel, people often ask me what gas costs in SF, and I usually have no clue, so I'm really lucky that way. I only noticed it last night because the woman I was with commented; she drives back and forth to Palo Alto (about 35 miles each way) for work every day.
  10. Oh, I hate that! I do that all the time. My mom always tells the story, that she was watching Bobby Kennedy's funeral on TV while sorting laundry, and let a red crayon get through the usual pocket-search.
  11. 50 states my ass. When Wilco hits Hawaii on their way out to Guam, Saipan, and Midway, I'll be there for all of those shows.
  12. My Aunt Nancy used to shape the meatloaf like a roast pig with an apple in its mouth, with a snout and ears, and raisins for the eyes.
  13. I think Jason will do a fine job on the girl's part for that one. Is the finale going to be Meatloaf Week? That would be awesome.
  14. Oh, man. 1-800-CAMPFIRE. Mart could just leave a new song for us everyday!
  15. pancakes travels to New York all the time, so that should work out just fine!
  16. What they keep saying about the "popularity contest" is so true. I had no real love for Carly, just because she never struck me as a pleasant person. And my niece loves Brooke, because she reminds her of her dancing teacher (neither of us are voting). I think after a few good weeks early in the season, Brooke built up a fanbase who are going to vote for her no matter what, but particularly on a week when Simon is "mean" to her. She's been dead weight since the second Beatles week. I'm still rooting for Jason. I love that dopey-stoner routine.
  17. A couple of threads on the backstory for these shows: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=32027 http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=33582 And I've been posting and re-posting these links (about previous shows), just because I love to re-read these threads: 1/29/05 1/14/06 4/8/06 (there was one more in 2006, wasn't there? I can't find the thread...) 2/17/07 2/24/07 3/3/07 1/12/08 4/5/08 And here's the sad story on the lost thread for that third 2006 show (which I took some time to figure out the last time I went looking for these): The archives cut
  18. It's been said here before, but if you're ever in the neighborhood of a Twisted Acres live show, do not deny yourself the pleasure. I guarantee you'll have the most fun you can have in a public place.
  19. I like the non-traditional names. I also like incredibly traditional names. But nothing in-between! Jenna can start a trend, then someday we'll all have to explain to our great-grandchildren that Charles used to be a boy's name. Like Evelyn.
  20. All I ask is the middle name. I think "Charles Gogo Sooie" has quite a ring to it!
  21. Where do we send the gift certificates for glowing-mama portraits?

    Presale RANT

That happens, or sometimes a buyer goes through all the steps, and then their credit card is declined. Some of this is discussed in the pinned thread on pre-sales, up above.
