  1. Thanks for the kind thoughts, everyone.
  2. Sad end to this story: http://www.eastkentmercury.co.uk/news/defa...rticle_id=38177
  3. Hey, sorry you had such bad luck with the B&P. I don't think your experience is the norm, but there are definitely not as many people doing B&Ps as there were in the past. Yeah, we're hoping that the powers-that-be will recognize that this system would really benefit the most people.
  4. Happy day, Allison! See you in a couple of weeks!
  5. The California race was called for Clinton weeks ago, based on the large numbers of early and absentee voters, who tend to be older, and women, and were expected to go heavily in Hillary's favor. I'd like a breakdown of what the split was just on voters who voted yesterday. They are talking about record turnout all over California yesterday, and some precincts even ran out of ballots, in part due to the rule that allowed unaffiliated voters to vote in the democratic primary. I think California's delegate count is going to be a pretty close split. This is from an article in the SF Chroni
  6. OK, this has been dormant for a while, but here's the latest. Not too long after sending out the previous letter, we got a call from Wilco HQ, telling us that they had previously considered this, but had decided against it. It was a verbal response, and that's a while back now, so I can't quote it directly, but the gist of it was that they feel the community is better served by people interacting through trading, rather than just downloading shows. So, this is the response we've put together, hoping to clarify our position on this. Let me know if any of you have any suggestions for chang
  7. This was publicized ahead of time as a campaign event, wasn't it? So why would you expect anything less than for someone on that stage to be trying to sway your vote? And, this is the speech that Bobby Kennedy gave in Indianapolis the day Martin Luther King was assassinated: http://www.historyplace.com/speeches/rfk.htm Despite the fact that they probably didn't agree with all of his policies, certainly you can see why people were inspired by RFK?
  8. This is very cool! I wish I knew somebody having a baby sometime soon, I'd love to order some of those leggings.
  9. The kiddiness at Shelburne was fantastic. So much fun to see all those kids there.
  10. As are people who offer help to the folks who are having trouble with BT, flac, whatever. It may come off as attitude, but I really do believe that we're all after the same thing here, just getting good music out to as many people as possible. The only difference seems to be that some people are going for ease and speed (both worth thinking about when you're dying to get your hands on a good show), while others put quality, and the ability to protect the integrity of the recording, as their top priority. But again, no need to get nasty about it. And I also love that Pittsburgh show.
  11. I have no idea! http://dems.info/contactus.htm
  12. Hee! Yeah, as we said above, it's a fight that's been going on for a while. You were just lucky enough to start the most recent round!
  13. I think they're trying to prevent hordes of republicans (or whatever) coming in and voting for the weakest candidate in the democrats' (or whoever's) primary. Which doesn't necessarily prevent hordes of republicans registering as democrats (or vice versa) and doing the same thing... Here, unaffiliated voters can vote in the democrats' primary, but not in the republicans'. So it's not just by state, it's party rules, too.
  14. I stayed up way past my bedtime, but I couldn't resist this last night.
  15. Shelburne? Yeah, an indoor GA place that's going to be really crowded wouldn't be as relaxed an atmosphere, probably. Depending on your daughter's personality though, 9 could be old enough to handle that. My nieces saw Wilco when they were 8 and 9 years old, but that was a seated show. They had a great time, and the little one, now 11, is planning to play I'm Always in Love with some of her friends at the school talent show this year. If she's not too tired after, wander around and look for the bus, members of Wilco have been known to be very sweet to kids after shows. And yes, ea

If you bought the 5-night "pass", then you didn't have to worry about trying to get tickets to multiple individual shows (which a lot of people seemed to have trouble doing). To me, that was the biggest selling point. And getting them through the music today presale meant that I didn't have to sweat out the extra couple of days until they went on sale at ticketmaster. We weren't promised a special commemorative thing, were we? I do think that the people at music today need to get their act together though, rather than sending out multiple e-mails specifying that it's one pass rather than
  17. Seriously? This is the best we can do on Super Tuesday? A bunch of lame sex puns? Anyway: I voted this morning. Our polling place is just a few doors down from my house, in Newcomer High School, which is specifically for immigrant kids to get proficient in English before moving on to a mainstream high school. When I went in, a teacher was in the polling area, explaining the process to a group of students. It was a very cool way to start the morning.
  18. What is with the hostility in this thread? It's unnecessary, on all sides. Please, keep it civil.
  19. OK, it's officially SuperDuper Tuesday in two time zones now. mountain bed, quick, start the new thread!
  20. Oh, no worries. The back-and-forth on this issue has been going on for quite a while, and it'll probably never be resolved to everyone's liking. As long as everyone keeps it civil, it's not that huge of an issue.
  21. Folks have the right to express their differing opinions on this topic. As mentioned previously, there is no board policy against posting mp3s, but that doesn't mean that people can't express their objections to those postings.
