Just saw this post. I love this album, it's totally goofy, good holiday fun.

A few weeks ago, I posted in the Now Playing thread about how much I enjoy Tualla's 2005 Christmas Mix. So I'll kick off a new thread for this year's batch. If you do a Christmas mix every year, or if you want to come up with one right now, post it here for all to enjoy (I know not everyone likes this type of music, but I love Christmas music, trite crap included). Mine is based on a mix tape that my sister Kathy sent to me when I was away at college (1987ish? I'm going to go ahead and call this the 20th anniversary edition), which she called "Taking the Christ out of Xmas". This mix isn'

mp3s sendspace of the zeppelin reunion
gogo replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Oh, absolutely, I can definitely see the point there. Just wanted to point out that there are valid reasons behind asking people not to send stuff in mp3. -

Oh, I totally see your point. I see valid points on both sides of this argument, no question. But my thinking is that I'm going to err on the side of caution, and not piss off any tapers, considering that I've downloaded so many shows and therefore benefited from their (entirely voluntary) hard work. -

I think the issue for some people is that a lot of tapers prefer that the shows they've taped and distributed don't get passed around as mp3s. And I definitely feel their opinions should be given serious consideration. -
Oh, my fault, sorry. I merged a couple of threads, so some posts probably look kind of out of whack.

http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?s=&...t&p=1008186 Jules has e-mailed musictoday to ask about that; check back in the other thread for more info.

Oh sure, spoil my happy little run of know-it-all-isms! OK, but don't count on that in the future!!!

re: OTHER presales Sometimes after a musictoday presale, there will be another presale through ticketmaster, or through the venue's website. Often, passwords for these presales are available from the radio station that's sponsoring the show, or from the venue's e-mail list. Musictoday or Wilcoworld generally will not supply passwords for these other presales.
-
Wilcoworld's presale is only through musictoday. The ticketmaster presale is a WXRT presale, so if you need a password, it'll come from WXRT.

Charleston pre-sale on ticketmaster right now. Password is jeff.

Wait a minute... are we the same person?!? You've listed a bunch of my favorite things! The Roosevelt (or as my Grandma still calls it: "the tamale house") is on the same block as the St. Francis, which is a very cool old-school soda fountain, and you can sit in the booth where some movers and shakers met one day and decided that San Francisco needed a professional football team, and thus was born the 49ers.
-
This isn't a thread for complaining about not getting tickets, or asking for passwords for non-musictoday presales. It's specifically for information on how these presales work, since these questions seem to arise fairly frequently. I've included here the links to the official pages with tour information; the general sale info that's currently listed on the wilcoworld tour page; and an informative e-mail response from musictoday that VCer rjreda posted in another thread. If anyone's got any more concrete information to add, feel free to contribute whatever you've got. http://wilcowor

Rationalization, schmationalization. I also enjoy that song.

According to Brianne's super-sleuthing skills, it's Hillbilly Drummer Girl (by Scott McCaughey of the Minus 5, who is the other guy in the scene).

No, it's entirely possible that he was speaking Mandarin. Recent Chinese immigrants are more likely to speak Mandarin, it's just that traditionally, the residents of San Francisco's Chinatown were Cantonese.

Oh man, I love horehound candy! I haven't had that in ages. When my mom was little, she used to get an orange wrapped in tissue paper and a new hankie for christmas (seriously, we always tease her that she must have grown up with Laura Ingalls). She was telling the story again last night, that even after the orange was eaten she'd keep the tissue paper, because you could smell the orange on it for weeks.
-
San Francisco's Chinatown is primarily Cantonese. But I'm sure if you only speak Mandarin, someone will be able to translate for you. Oh, and yeah, I love Beach Blanket Babylon. You can do a great walking day in Union Square, Chinatown, and North Beach, and end up at Beach Blanket Babylon. Then just at the other end of the block from BBB is O'Reilly's, for oysters and Guinness after.

When I add something like that, I change the album title for that whole playlist to the name of the playlist. That way the playlist all plays together when you're on album shuffle.

5 Day passes are not sold out!!!
-
No, there are even still 5-day passes available, at the 10:00am Friday pre-sale through XRT (password already posted in this thread!). http://wilcoworld.net/tours/riv/
-
http://www.wrlt.com/ Their site says "check back here" for the station pre-sale. I don't know if they'll just link you to ticketmaster, or post a password there, but it couldn't hurt to check.

I think as each setlist is posted, you and Monk should cross each song off on a master list, so that we'll know what's still going to be played on the next nights. I'd guess so, yeah.
