  1. is Nels a gun rights guy, or was he not available to sign the petition?

  3. i was gonna see Bonnie Prince Billy and Bitchin Bajas but gave my tickets to friends as it's our oldest son's last day home before heading out to summer camp for 4 weeks.
  4. a friend of mine put it pretty well: So in review after systematically ripping off their customers for 15+ years this is the punishment for Ticketmaster: 1- They get to fill venues that would otherwise be 1/3 or 1/2 full and are not forced to give away tickets to highly in-demand events. They aren't losing tickets that otherwise would have been sold. 2- Only one "money off" voucher can be used per purchase which essentially makes it a coupon. $2.50 is such an insignificant amount of money (won't even offset fees) that these are likely going to encourage more ticket sales. 3- This lawsuit i
  5. A band named Garden Ruin also has a Calexico cover in its arsenal?
  6. kinda like her not debating Bernie on all those promised instances.
  7. the comp is comprised of pretty rare/hard to find 70s Swedish prog/psych bands... Reine (Dungen gtr) i think works pretty closely w/ Subliminal Sounds, who have an outstanding track record in reissuing those sorts of bands, as well as current stuff too. if i had a time machine i'd be OK w/ Stockholm, 1974. this song is so, so awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0P4_fmv1qE
  8. The Amazing also sing in English, and Reine plays guitar w/ them. I do have that Life On Earth record, and should pull it off the shelves tonight. you know what compilation is just totally great? 9. man this is so good. i've never heard Dungen sing in English before, and it sounds a bit strange. i am actually kinda bummed that i'll be in London during the time they play The Sinclair next week. http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2016/06/08/the-lagniappe-sessions-dungen-cover-aphex-twin-and-wil-malone/
  10. no, i grew up in western MA, outside of Spfld. We talk pretty normal out that way. Once you get 10 or so miles west of Worcester, you're pretty much free from local dialects (parents withstanding, of course). but now that you've mentioned it, i've gone over in my head how i'd pronounce and you might be on to something.
  11. on the plus side, if you don't get a Cure ticket, you can go see Dungen at Sinclair (which for me is the arguably better show, albeit that The Cure last played Boston in 2008).

  14. this is kinda unrelated, but i love this cover of "Thunder Road" that Will did w/ Tortoise. btw, the book that Oldham did w/ Alan Licht is excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb1bf-HpyD0
  15. i personally love the 2nd record (aka Days in the Wake), and this song never fails to slay me. "when was the first time you realized the next time time would be the last time." now that's a fucking lyric. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noAfSZVTqtQ
  16. i was gonna say _I See A Darkness_ and then post the vid, but then i found this radically different (and equally rad) version on youtube. this was the song Johnny Cash covered, btw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iV4NwSbscg
  17. Thurston? I think Ecstatic Peace! is still solvent.
  18. he claimed it was in the last couple of years but i'll press him for more details. i *know* there's no way it was within the last two years.
  19. he is at the Sinclair in June. i've been a fan since the 1st LP... he's great.
  20. the Vile/Mascis, Bonnie Prince Billy and Yo La Tengo songs on DotD are excellent.
  21. Thurston gives you a recording in exchange for a Sanders contribution http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/products/feel-it-in-your-guts
  22. a guy i work with claims he saw Wilco do a boat cruise show in Boston Harbor... i think he's full of shit. does anyone know?
