  1. I'm also bummed by the lack of Mark Mulcahy. J Mascis was a surprise, and I had wondered why he wasn't on the Solid Sound bill because he lives in that area. I agree on the stare-down shots. I feel like they went on a little too long. Did anyone else feel like this film communicated Solid Sound to be a sort festival where children are just allowed to run free? There were a lot of shots where children just romped around, played in the dirt, with no parents in sight. There were no shots of the kids room, either. Although, that shot in the beginning with the two little girls, embracing, fre
  2. The footage of Foxygen was worth the price of this video alone. Does a very good job summing up the energy, strangeness, and crowd reaction of their performance.
  3. Vimeo is like an artsy version of YouTube. Most content is free. I guess you'd just have to make an account so you can buy it.
  4. I have two 3-day passes for sale. Happy to sell them at the face value, $124 each. Heck, I'm willing to beat the current price on StubHub: $105. Can deliver them via email. I'm sure all of you already have your tickets, though Edit: Ended up selling them on StubHub!
  5. Like bböp said, something feels missing. I felt letdown this morning when I checked the lineup. I think the feeling of letdown comes from the buildup: buying 4 tickets, inviting friends/family to join us this year, and pre-paying our motel that we reserved back when they announced the dates. We're already $1,200 in the hole for Solid Sound 2015. This buildup is NOT the fault of Wilco or their management. Although, I do think hotels/motels are too expensive, but that's capitalism. Now I'm feeling hostage to going because I've already payed all this money. Will I go? It's still up in the a
  6. I think you can't take him serious when he says "I'm serious". It was funny to hear it acoustic. The lights were weird, so Jeff kept messing up because he couldn't see where his hands were on the fretboard. But he's working on his abs!
  7. Then we all put blankets on and walked out into the desert (Jeff's idea)
  8. Most new songs Jeff played acoustic guitar. On Down From Above Jeff played a strat, and Diamond Light featured a jazzmaster. Diamond Light was very cool, but I'm a sucker for noise. Let me say the opening "comedian" was bad. Not sure who booked that guy.
  9. Holy crap, look at them setlists. Love that MMJ setlist (less Evil Urges, more old stuff).
  10. MMJ Evil urges It beats 4 u Touch Me Pt. 1 First light Golden I will sing you songs Circitual Holdin on to black metal Touch me pt 2 Wordless chorus Gideon Wilco - start - 7:37 War on War Handshake Drugs I am trying to break your heart Too Far Apart Forget the Flowers [Jeff: you're cheering, is my fly down?] Impossible Germany Born Alone Via Chicago Art of Almost [Jeff: he's my best friend, referring to RT, then turning to Glenn and saying something (sorry? haha)] Sloth - RT and RT drummer on shakers Tomorrow Never Knows - with MMJ and RT End - 9 something
  11. Haha yep, such a great find. Wishing I would have brought more money. I spent $100 and was just getting started. I had to stop
  12. This interview is awesome! I love the Tweedy impressions, haha. I have been listening to the new Mavis as I got the record in the mail. It was cut by Chris Bellman (one of the best) and sounds very good.
  13. Did anyone else see the sign, "Do not stand on drums." near Glenn's earth drums exhibit?
  14. Could you describe it some more? I was up front for Wilco and wasn't able to make it into the Hunter Center (over capacity)
  15. Thanks! Listening on our way back home to MI.
  16. Setlist I wrote down from YLT: Stupid Things Stockholm Syndrome Autumn Point of It Decora (acoustic) I'll Be Around Before We Run Nothing to Hide Ohm Blue Line Swinger - (15min or so) I left during Blue Line because they closed with that in Ann Arbor last time I saw them (amazing show). It did pick up once they played Before We Run. It was definitely the weakest I've seen them of the four times I've seen them. They would have been awesome for a Pop Up show.
  17. +1 Wilco has delivered a memorable performance each year of Solid Sound, each unique in its own right.
  18. Ribot, Hidalgo, and then Nels. Jeff Tweedy sang hate it here with Nels and MMW backing. Then for an encore I believe Nels played with them. Also I want to say it was a pleasure accidentally meeting Tinnitus Photography on the hill. We had a very good chat over the course of the afternoon, and I am looking forward to the pictures.
  19. I saw that part of their set. I do think it was handled a bit roughly. Later when his mic stand was malfunctioning, he got absolutely no help from the crew. Maybe they took his jabs personally :/
  20. Foxygen was really wild and entertaining. Can anyone elaborate on what happened (maybe at the end of their set I missed?)?
  21. That sounds so awesome. When Nels and Thurston can play guitars with springs and feet, anything can happen at SS.
  22. Looking forward to our third Solid Sound. Heading out bright and early from the great state of Michigan. Long drive ahead of us. Please follow me on Twitter and Instagram to share some SS fun. http://twitter.com/paulcalypse http://instagram.com/paulcalypse Has anyone heard anything about exclusive vinyl at the festival this year?
  23. Of my entire list of people/bands I wanted to see at SS '13, Reggie Watts was at the top. Suddenly I'm even more excited for June to come (didn't think that was possible.)
  24. Well that post describes pretty much everything that happened. I don't have a setlist in memory, but that's about all that's left to know about that night. My poster was sitting on top of the light.
