Foo Fighters covering Arcade Fire on BBC Radio 1
Synthesizer Patel replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
If I were keeping score I'd know that it were 600 to you, that's for fact! -
never heard a digitally remastered version before. i love the version of Pocahontas on that. hopefully the moderators will let you off.

Tortilla Flat & Cannery Row beat, for me, anything that Kerouac ever wrote. There is something very similar about them to the works of Kerouac too. Not that there is any point in comparing, as they are both authors worth reading. I'm quite a fan of Dr. Sax by Kerouac, and The Dharma Bums (as mentioned) is fantastic.

Not as confrontational as Jeremy Paxman, who I love watching each evening on Newsnight. He isn't affraid to cut to the point. As this shows. And when he was forced to report the weather at the end of the show, his attitude was

Ok, well answer me: why is he holding an artists trowel in his right hand, then? -

^ Has that bloke got a mangina? -
during the writing of this, were you, by any chance, only reading the posts of What Light? (to follow your analogy on one step further)

Super Furry Animals - Hey Venus! Gruff Rhys - Candylion Panda Bear - Person PItch Caribou - Andorra They are all myspace links, if you want to hear the music. None of them are new bands, but all of them have released, or are about to release, new albums this year, which are all very good.

Man Man They're really good, well Six Demon Bag is (never heard anything else by them)

I think that Cherry Ghost album is rubbish too. What's The Coral album like? I've always liked them a bit. NP. P.G Six - Slightly Sorry

Why didn't I cancel my RS subscription
Synthesizer Patel replied to benjamin's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think I'd give M.I.A more marks too, I just wish she'd do a little bit more lyrically, but it's certainly interesting pop music. It's not really about how many marks they give them anyway, it's about whether the reviews are insightful in any way or not. I've never read it, so I can't comment on that. -
I thought it sounded more like Nathan Barley had started a recording career. The music wasn't so bad (if a little unimaginative), but the lyrics are shocking - I'm not too sure whether it would be worse that they were joking or being serious, or both. NP.

Is that as bad as the Crackerjack Docker single would suggest? NP.

I'm not surprised, I've had that happen to me with something before. I'd suggest going around to their offices and smashing it up, then claim that you'd made a mistake and were supposed to be smashing up something else. What exactly happened to the concept of paying for your mistakes, in the business world?

If it weren't for Ricky Gervais; Rupert Everett; that shot of Michelle Pfeiffer taking her clothes off and then going "Oooo" (not the clothes off bit, just the Ooo - which makes me think 'what has acting like a moron got to do with being a wicked witch? and surely a witch should be scary, and not in the "oh look, now she's got a cgi hags-head", but scary in a hansel & gretel - "fuck me, she's gonna cook them in the oven" - kind of way); the over-use of CGI; and the fact that it looks too pacey to actually have room for depth; I'd like this.

Wanted: some great songs about NYC
Synthesizer Patel replied to Marijn's topic in Someone Else's Song
New York City (You're A Woman) by Al Kooper would be a great close to a mixtape about New York -
Yeah, I was going to say that. They are also the best songs on it, so I can't understand why they were left off the show originally. I think he did 2 nights, or something, (didn't he?) and one of them was really great (from what I've read of it), and the other one they showed on tv - go figure.

It's an improvisation, apparently. -
Curious about leak listening habits.
Synthesizer Patel replied to Dr. Steve Brule's topic in Someone Else's Song
I once almost choked on a leek. Because they are layered, I kept pulling layers out of my throat, but couldn't get at the whole thing. My family still laugh about it whenever everyone gets together for a meal, about how funny it was that I nearly died. Apparently I looked so funny pulling it out. As for music leaks, I pretty much download everything before I buy it, but if I like it I always buy a cd, and if I don't like it I just delete it.
