I think it's single material. It's probably the most catchy song on the album, and if that's what makes a good single, then this is it. Whether this statement is true or not, I'm in a little doubt. But, hey hey; does it matter anyway?

The mastering on Summerteeth is truly appalling to these ears. I think it's so bad that it puts me off listening to the album a lot of the time, even though the songs are very good. And certain songs on Being There have far from aged well, even after this short time gap. What other albums do you think are mastered and mixed well? You probably just like an entirely different sound to me, and some others here.

The mastering on AGIB was done intentionally, and it was done well. I actually have this sort of problem whenever I record and mix music with one of my friends. He is constantly saying he can't hear certain things and wants them turned up and seperated in the mix - for some reason he is under the impression that because he is unable to distinguish every instrument crisply & perfectly that it means he can't hear them - this of course is not true - he can hear them, he just can't seperate them from other instruments. He just rarely listens to the kind of music that I do, so he's used to it d

Thought I'd give this a go. The first line on that album contains a double negative. Need I say more. -

I don't why I held off listening to this, but I actually think it might be the best she's made so far. I've also just found out (because I was reading about the remastered Sly & The Family Stone cd's coming out next month) that there are two versions of Fresh on cd (one is a mistake and is the unfinished mixes) which is the one I've got! Anyway, the point being that I now don't feel so bad about having to fork out for all the album's again. So, I'm now playing Fresh (anyone who wants to see if they've got the rare version can listen to Let Me Have It All, and if there is no backing singing

It means cotton candy in England too (well, cotton candy means candyfloss). It's also what it means in Sugar Mountain. In the Wilco song it's all about a relationship, so it's a metaphor, but still in reference to the fairground food. What does it mean to you?

Sorry, I was just joking - I wasn't trying to put you down or anything like that, well not too much anyway. I think Tweedy has definately been influenced by Neil Young, but I don't think that line has anything to do with the wilco song. I could have just said, "no," to your original question, but I thought I'd give you a little bit of a friendly ribbing too.

Its so NOISY at the FAIR But all your FRIENDS are there And the candy floss you had And your MOTHER and your DAD Yeah, plus the tv show Friends; my mother and dad; and the concept of noise all came from here too. Am I being unFAIR [sic]? (sorry, just pulling your tail. i really doubt that this song has anything to do with the wilco song, and instead has a lot more to do with images which evoke the fairground)

10 out of 10. -
I think it keeps getting better and better. The only track that spoils it slightly is Search For Delicious, cos nothing really happens in it, but coming after Good Girl/Carrots, I can forgive a little pointless noddling.

Yeah, it's worth having if you've got everything else, but not top of the list of ones to have. Obviously Wonderin' was a very old song anyway. A couple of the over-looked albums that are worth getting are Hawks & Doves and Old Ways, in my view anyway.

lol, well you might be disappointed - that's the best song on the album, by a long long way!

The National - "Fake Empire" (track from new album)
Synthesizer Patel replied to Azzurri's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, I know. I'd have said Stuart Staples (Tindersticks) would have been a better comparison too. If the rest of the album is as good as this track, then I'll be very happy. -
