  1. Thanks, bbop…I never got one which took me off guard.
  2. How was this announced? Just social media? Or some other avenue?
  3. i wasn't sure where to post this, so forgive me if it should be in another thread..... ....but i can't be the only one who was bummed about the ticket release today. i bought presale tickets for Thursday and immediately bought the 2 seats i ended up with. come to find out today they're releasing tickets in the lower level, row DD, for tomorrows show. maybe im splitting hairs and the point is moot because it is a different day, but i felt a bit gipped. not a feeling i've really ever encountered with this band and their business operation. in my opinion jake fussell is a must. an american
  4. were lawn tickets available in the pre-sale?
  5. i sure as hell hope william tyler recruited glenn for his new record. so challenging to put into words how exciting it is to hear those two (along with a few others..darin, brothers cook) are working together
  6. the vinyl comes with a download card. i'm really after the liner notes/essays. just debating if i'm going to regret the 'limited' aspect of the vinyl release or the audio difference
  7. debating vinyl vs cd at this point... anyone else wrestling with this ?
  8. atticus doesn't like this song because of the associations other people make with it? i'm confused now.
  9. in all honesty, i find the criticism of wilco (the album) a bit confusing. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a band, who is both employed as a band, and capable of putting as solid a seven song set together as the set i tongue in cheek referenced. sure, maybe wilco the album was wilco being tongue in cheek, but there exists a portion of the fan base so committed to some 'version' of the band they idealize. i find wilco to be a wonderful collective of musicians maturing together with one of the finer song writers of our time. when you think back on the way you saw the america of late 2008,
  10. wilco (the song) deeper down one wing> bull black nova you and i you never know country disappeared
  11. kind of makes you wonder about a few things.... glen is out with the radiolab tour jeff has the jaunt coming up. pat and john are sort of in that awkward phase waiting for their record to come out. must be demoing at this point??? given his background, i always wish mikael would get a shot at a mix or two. be interesting to find out what the process is/was. thanks for your time
  12. i too saw the wilco reference in treme. the optimist in me wanted to believe that was foreshadowing, though, the realist in me thinks it was just wishful thinking.
  13. i love this record. i found the jesus etc.. cover haunting. enjoyed the please tell my brother(s)? cover as well. not sure why some people insist on being wilco purists. i find that the band's evolution is beautiful. In some way i find that bill fay's cover brings that evolution full circle for me (as paradoxical as that statement may seem). cheers
  14. where is there a meaningless talking point? i suggested that talking points that attempt to invoke my emotions are meaningless. i dont think i did that here because the bit about exxon mobile was an assumption that you don't dire you are a majority shareholder of one of these companies or ones like them then fine i can understand that what i said may have been unfair. what remains is that you, or anyone else here who objects to cap and trade legislation, have yet to explain how this legislation is questionable or harmful economically. if you're willing to have a mature conversation about th
  15. still actually pretty curious... why is the policy questionable? and what freedoms of yours are 'they' impinging on? sure you still have as much freedom to go by an suv no one is stopping you. the government is just incentivizing those who choose not to do this. that is all. makes sense and the science supports it. again if anyone wants to explain to me why the policy is so questionable i'm all ears. just explain exactly how this policy is a government impingement on your freedom of choice? how will this policy hurt so many families (economically speaking, that is, as the other objector su
  16. so you're okay with exxon mobile, who has made more money than any business ever has in the united states, polluting our world without paying a red cent for it? i think cap and trade is a pretty good idea and i'd happily pay a few extra cents at the pump if it will change the consumer culture of our nation and the world. By the majority of scientific accounts, as well as consumer trends, this change in consuming does not appear to be such a bad thing economically (unfortunately two japanese car manufacturers seemed to understand that more fuel efficient cars are more economical for the 'averag
  17. just how is this piece of legislation so damaging?
  18. wow that's the most i think i've ever read of Jeff putting some content into his discussions about Jay's death. You can tell he took it pretty bad. i think some people will hold him selfish though for what he has said for realizing he was lucky to maintain his health. its from the first link
  19. Looking for two in madison 2010 send me a pm or something would love to make the trip from chicago
  20. im not trying to diminish the tremendous accomplishments of this record all im saying is that when you look back at this record what UNFORTUNATELY stands out is the particular stories that are associated with it that is all anyway the first time i listened to this record i knew it was going to be magic when i heard john come in right before glenn on the first track that split second of sonic space between the bass and the drum intro is pure excellence i think it might have been the sort of thing jeff was referring to on the dvd (sorry to bring it up) when he says there are a lot of holes on
  21. so you think the music is great but the drama is worthy of discussion thank you for helping me to confirm that still what stands out more than the music on this record is the drama associated with it's making.
  22. no country for old men there will be blood royal tenebaums the pianist not much immediately stands out for me the way these four do
  23. sadly i'll have to disagree every review of this record begins with one or two paragraphs of backstory followed by a brief description of the wonderful music on this record the paste article is a prime example sure we might all like to think the music is what stands as the towering achievement of this record but frequent lineup discussions (which undoubtedly are the result of the major shakeup before and after this record) here often prove this is not the case either
