  1. Got super lucky and scored tickets to see Louis CK tonight at a pretty tiny venue down the street from my house. Hoping he's "home" to work out some new material.
  2. Any advice for parking near HOB but not in that lot on Landsdowne? Really hate taking the T home after a HOB show. Also -- see you guys there! I took my Wilco beanie out of storage today, so I'll be wearing it. Was pretty reluctant to break out the winter apparel, but am glad that I did!
  3. During any quiet moment someone would yell "c'mon" or "play!" or something else to that effect. He'd get irritated because he "just played 13 songs in 48 minutes." While he was cursing at anyone who yelled at him, he didn't seem genuinely pissed... Which was good. I thought he was amazing. My only criticism of his set was that the pacing felt very strange. By the end of the set I was ready for it to be over. He played great songs, and the band was tight, but we lost some momentum at crucial points. Butch Walker could be the worst lyricist of all time. He has a nice voice, but man... tough
  4. Same here. Pretty excited about it!
  5. That's a good price (considering what it's going for elsewhere)-- think I might preorder from Oldies too. Thanks for the heads up!
  6. Print at home wasn't an option for me... Will Call only. Checked for nights 1 and 2. I entered a Boston zip code-- you think that had something to do with it? Are either of you local to IL?
  7. Sucks that the only delivery option was will call. I'm like 75% sure I can make it, but not worth risking all that $$. Boo!
  8. Wowzer. If I ever needed the motivation to visit Chicago...
  9. There goes $85. I do kind of hate when live tracks are mixed in with studio stuff. Never flows nicely. That said, I'm still excited for the release.
  10. Definitely not Roadcase quality, but *someone* recorded it:
  11. I didn't jot down the setlist, but what a hilarious show! Definitely some of the funniest Jeff banter that I've ever experienced. Some highlights: 1. My Darling!! Definitely didn't think I'd ever hear this one... Jeff claimed there were 400 or so requests, and the runner up, Jesus Etc, had only 4. The enthusiastic requestor never came forward; Jeff said something like: "Bet you didn't think I'd play it. My playing it was a 'Fuck you!'" 2. A really obnoxious lady in the front row shouted for You and I, and I was sure that Jeff wouldn't humor her but he did, and I can't help but think he beg
  12. unfortunately, i wasn't. that sounds incredible, though. hope you had a great time.
  13. Jeff Tweedy, effortless rock star; Ryan Adams, poser. This is pretty silly.
  14. ... because jeff tweedy is the epitome of clean cut? i recognize that he might be working a certain look, but i'm not sure how that has anything to do with his songwriting.
  15. Ugh, might not be able to make Sun Kil Moon after all. If you know of anyone who might want a pair of tix in orchestra center, row j, let me know!
  16. NPR recorded the band playing at The Brill Building: http://www.npr.org/event/music/347374290/the-new-pornographers-live-in-concert?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20140911 Really like the way the new songs sound live except for War on the East Coast. That one just doesn't seem to work.
  17. Black Prairie (4/5 of The Decemberists) tonight in Boston.
  18. I know this is off topic-- but I've got such mixed feelings about Boston Calling. I'd love to see The National tonight, but I hate that festival. The crowd is awkward and the sound and space just don't work. It's a shame because the lineups have been great, and it means that the bands that play the festival don't have any other local shows.
