Jad, Robert, and their executive producer Ellen did an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit last week, and Ellen just got around to answering my question: Me: How did you get involved with Wilco & The Solid Sound Festival? I'm looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend! Ellen: We'd done a show with Wilco's drummer, Glenn Kotche, a few years ago and he put us on a list of folks he'd like to have invited. I guess the band gets together and looks over their collective list and decides who to invite up. It was a terrific experience - what a line up we got to be a part of! - and now we're goi

I disagree. Unfortunately, I think that the nature of allowing open access to Joe's field for the entire day allows people to claim a spot. I don't particularly like this method, and think that the line is a fairer way (then again, the sprint to the front can be dangerous which is probably why they opted for this approach). Those who shove their way to the front irritate me way more than the whole chair/ blanket approach.

While I've chimed in sporadically among all of the SSF threads, I'll share just a few of my thoughts: I much prefer waiting in line and having the mad dash to the front VS. setting up a chairFriday night's set was enjoyable, but it didn't do for me what it seemed to have done for most. I'll take a "greatest hits" set VS that covers set more often than not. The novelty of watching Wilco do cover songs wore off about an hour in.I think I finally like Neko Case. Good tunes & stage banter. While I don't think Saturday's Wilco set ranks among one of my favorites, I thought the setlist was pretty

I caught their unplugged performance in the museum, which was pretty strange. They had a nice sound, and were certainly acting the part. I kind of found their shtick to be a bit of a distraction, TBH.

Can anyone describe the Radiolab set? I was sad to miss it. I listen to that podcast about as often as I listen to Wilco.

I believe they had professional cameras at the benefit show last summer. I don't recall cameras like that at SSF1 or 2.

I got a video of Even Better. The audio isn't perfect, but it's something! I have a few other videos from the weekend that I'll post on my youtube channel. I caught some of Jeff's banter > ITMWLY as well as At My Window Sad and Lonely, and the Dylan cover from the night previous.

I think that's an important distinction. I had a good time, but was expecting 50% covers, and 50% b-sides/deep cuts. Hopefully tonight we get more than a "best of" setlist.

I recorded Jeff's "Breakfast with Wilco" radio interview. Any interest?

I remember reading this in a Native American Lit course and really enjoying it. My favorite from that semester was Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine. It's a bit different, but worth checking out, if you haven't already.

I've seen them twice since the new album came out, and the shows have been great. Graceless and I Need My Girl are highlights... Aside from TWFM tracks, they are mostly playing High Violet songs. Predictable setlist, enjoyable nonetheless. As expected, TWFM has grown on me, and I absolutely adore it.

This band is so much fun live.

Wow. Great set, and beautiful print. Glad you had a nice time, I'm incredibly jealous!

I pulled 2 GA Pit tickets for Mansfield, MA but just couldn't pull the trigger. $106.80/ticket for an abbreviated Wilco set (& 2 other bands I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to see).

That's funny... When/where did he say that?

Mansfield pricing: US $60.00 - US $90.00 US $60.00 Ticket + US $14.00 Fees = US $74.00 US $90.00 Ticket + US $16.70 Fees = US $106.70 Ouch!
