Best use of music in a TV or film scene
sonicshoulder replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Harry Nilsson-"Jump Into The Fire" from Goodfellas when Henry is cooking dinner, Michael is being reminded to stir the sauce, helicopters are hovering and Henry is coked out of his brain. Excellent stuff.... I've always thought Goodfellas was really well done soundtrack wise -
Sorry.....its the "whoo" after " I am the eggman, they are the egg man". I was listening a few weeks ago and think it sounds identical to the crowd participation "whoo" during Kingpin live. Obviously not as obvious as I thought but I can't unhear it now.

Well you guys are a lot of fun!

What took you so long! Classic albums you just discovered

I listened to Carole King's Tapestry twice yesterday. Have no idea why but it came into my head and by the end of the day I had spun it twice. I would say this, The Best of Bread, The Lovin Spoonfull Greatest Hits and some Gordon Lightfoot were played more than anything in my house growing up. Tapestry could easily be argued as one of the greatest of all times. According to Wiki more than 10 million copies sold in the U.S. alone, 4 Grammys, 5 weeks at #1. Pretty insane. If I close my eyes and listen to "It's Too Late" I'm transported to my moms 1983 green Accord -
Surely you don't believe any of these bands deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over Pearl Jam??? You're just saying personal preference right?

Today I enjoyed the first 1/4" of the guacamole that gets brown and funky more than the 2" underneath it that stay green and vibrant. Here's to the funky top layer.

When I think of Rock and Roll Janet Jackson doesn't immediately come to mind. Its usually Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Led Zeppelin...then Janet Jackson

I actually run through a Sonos but when I read this I thought maybe my two Sonos 1's which are in a stereo pair possibly had been turned off. Played it again today, stereos on...no vocals. All the other songs on the album are good. Very strange but it's a pretty piece of music so I've really come to enjoy it.

This picture contains compact discs, a corded telephone and an ash tray....ahhhh the good old days.

Which is worse? Robbing a place with a tattooed face or having a tattooed face and robbing a place. Also, what is the average amount of time it takes to catch a guy with a tattooed face compared to a robber with an untattooed face?

Watched this last night(again). I feel like this is such a bizarre, awkward performance. Maybe it seems that way now more than it felt then knowing what the future held for the band. More than half the guys on stage that night would be fired, Jeff looked pretty bad and is smoking in between...or during songs. A lot of the songs in arrangement are not what they are now or what they were on the albums. I've read all the Wilco books to date and I don't recall a lot of insight into this particular evening. Anybody have any anecdotes to share on that performance whether fact, legend, or flat out li

Orange vinyl and I love the sound of it...different than the digital in my case. I prefer the vinyl sound on this album to the digital...pretty clean but you can definitely still tell your listening to a record.

On an almost completely unrelated note on my vinyl copy of the new Band of Horses, "Country Teen" has no vocals....straight instrumental. Google yields no results to my inquiries....guess I won the prize.

Is it just me or is this a Tweedy album? I love Sukierae, and I really like this album after a half a dozen listens but this sounds like the second disc to Sukierae much more than a follow up to Star Wars.

I assumed it was post count or time on board....I was just being a smart ass. Scott is absolutely the coolest man in music. I was in Louisville to see Tweedy and Minus 5 in no particular order and I see Scott sitting at the bar across the street with a couple people. You'd have thought I was a 15 year old girl at a Beatles concert. I went fanboy for the first time in my life for a guy who was sitting unharassed in a crowd of people literally across the street from the sold out venue he was playing a couple hours later. Scott says "nice hat. Damn, nice shirt". I asked for a picture and the guy

I just noticed I have been upgraded, downgraded, promoted or demoted to "I Miss The Innocence". What changes this? Post count, time on board, trolling prowess, general sexiness( I just changed my profile pic so I'm guessing that) ...?

No record stores in Cincinnati or Northern Ky decided or were asked to participate according to the "Locator". I did get an email for my preorder orange record though this morning so after tending to all my domestic hinderances on one of my wife's late work nights I ran upstairs with my headphones to the desktop only to find the download isn't available yet. 12 hours of anticipation equals 4 minutes of glazed over disappointment staring at a screen saver.

How is this recording? I am/was interested but read that you'd basically be listening to a bunch of screaming teenage girls?

For some reason songs you've heard a thousand time sound so much better when you hear them on the radio. If you have to check to make sure your not listening to your ipod that means you've got a good station.

I bought the Trellis one at the show, now also known as the "not $250 with 38 bids and still 3 days to go on Ebay poster". I love the other poster too but that's a bit extreme. I have a poster from every Wilco show I've been to(maybe 20 something) except one Jeff solo show I believe in 2012 where the kids drew it. The merch line at the Pritzker show was easily 60-80 yards long...unlike any merch line at a Wilco show I've ever seen. Couldn't figure out why...maybe this poster is different than the others. I have the two back to back Ryman Hatch Show Print posters which were going for considerab

10 best concerts you've ever seen
sonicshoulder replied to Mr andromeda's topic in Someone Else's Song
Ironic I see this topic this morning as I am riding back from my number one I believe. Pearl Jam last night at Wrigley. For starters your standing ON Wrigley field...I would pay a lot of money to do that alone. No opener, Eddies home town, last night of tour, Ten turns 25 in a couple of days, just a really , really special feeling in the air. Saw Wilco the night before at Pritzker which was obviously really special too but Eddie just has an amazing ability to take a really huge, epic production and make it really intimate. Easily the best outdoor concert I've ever seen. Maybe I will reevaluate -
