  1. I'm assuming you've never been in a kayak, I think those guys are freaks of nature. As far as the Olympics as a whole I think it's awesome and for some reason both of my siblings are just as enthusiastic. I love pro sports but they are flooded with assholes who have become almost completely motivated by money. The Olympics(minus USA basketball) is mostly comprised of people motivated by personal accomplishment and or patriotism. Sure corporate greed plays a huge role in the schedules and venues but most of these atheletes can't make a living doing what they've dedicated their life to.
  2. Quite a few phones in use as well as regular cameras at Forecastle. I guess they can't do much regulating at festivals. They did play "I'm Always In Love" but I have an i-phone so I couldn't participate.
  3. Mike Doughty,Deer Tick,Neko Case, Wilco
  4. There used to be a guy around here that would do nothing but this and spelling corrections.
  5. I don't have Facebook or Twitter so I don't qualify for any internet fun anymore.
  6. I was skimming through the fine print of Wilco's concert policies as I often do and came across this change. Apparently the smartphone ban has been lifted at Wilco shows but only during "I'm Always in Love". Only catch is you must be using a Sprint Evo and have to be in a group of ethnically diverse 30 year olds dressed slacker chic and you need to video tape your mouth while singing. It helps to be unshaven and have cool boots as well.
  7. Jeff: "Do you have Hell Is Chrome on your phone" Me: (if I'd had been there) "Yes"
  8. Dr.Dog is a great live show...you won't be disappointed
  9. I couldn't agree more with this comment. I've only been around here (VC) for a few years but it's been alot of fun. It's probably my favorite place to go on the web and I try to check in every day. I don't do Facebook or Twitter but I do have a social media and its through VC. I'd have to say my favorite moment was a concert stream a few years ago and there were a ton of us on here listening and commenting and that to me was as cool as it gets. Much thanks to all those/you's who keep this place going. (BTW, anybody heard from Sex Nap...been a while)

    Ouch!

To enjoy Wilco takes a certain musical maturity that the average coffee shop patron is just not ready for nor deserving of. I say this in jest because we are known to be musical snobs as Wilco fans but I also believe every freakin word of it.
  11. I'm pretty sure this will be smack dab in the middle of the Uncle Tupelo reunion...there's no way he can be in two places at once
  12. I saw them in February at a pretty quaint little venue in Cincinnati. Before the show we were having beer and nachos at a bar across the street and in walks Toby, the other guitar player,Scott and a female hipster chick. She was clearly with Scott, they weren't making out or anything but they appeared to be an item. Two things to be noted...not the healthiest looking group and they had to wait about 10 minutes for a table but that wait was made more pleasent by a guy in a tight lavender v-neck and skinny jeans with a ridiculous mustache who bought them a shot.
  13. Perhaps this "huge Uncle Tupelo shirt order" is just one 4x shirt that is being made out of the kindness of some "major t-shirt screenprinter's" heart for a portly fan with a terminal illness who's last wish was to support his favorite band via 50/50 blend.
  14. That is f-ing great....well for everyone except that chap.
  15. It's my favorite album ever. It was my introduction to Wilco and can say without exaggeration that I listened to it for at least 2 months straight, exclusively. It has always been my default/go to cd when I just cant pinpoint what I'm in the mood for and it never disappoints. I've stated on this web site that its number one on my "stranded on an island" list and my first cd I burn when introducing people to the band. I bought 2 of the vinyl sets...not to sell one but for a backup incase something gets scratched. So I guess you could say I'm pretty happy with the way its" holding up".
  16. I have never seen an episode of Mad Men but love Jon Hamm based on his SNL appearences alone...he is brilliant.
  17. Wow those high parts on "Be Kind To the Boy On The Road" are really out of Billy's wheelhouse. I guess Natalie Merchant wasn't around when they cut that one.
  18. I was listening to my library of Tweedy benefit shows the past few weeks priming for the Vic shows and it struck me how annoyed I am by clapping to the beat(or not to the beat in most...all cases) of songs. This has to be terribly distracting to the artist. In the words of Ron Burgundy "it's bush league".
  19. Brandon Phillips is on board. There hasn't been this kind of buzz in Cincinnati regarding the Reds in 20 years.
