  1. Billy Gibbons at a Smashing Pumpkins concert. He just kinda came out and waived and exited the stage. Bizzare
  2. Quaint little show at an old church turned multi-roomed venue here in Newport, Ky. Him and his wife with an opening by a local guy and fellow Creekdipper Dave Wolfenberger. Twelve dollar show, about 16 people there. Olson was walking around before the show sipping a tea, he pulled up a chair about 8 feet from the stage and watched his buddy open. Told stories, shot from the hip, sounded fantastic and gave everyone in attendance reason to believe he's legally insane. Absolutely fantastic evening. I really like his solo stuff so I enjoyed it immensely, he did play a couple Jayhawks songs begrudg
  3. Hardest cd to extract in the history of cd extraction. This problem seems to be getting worse too. I now prefer the cardboard sleeve considering I usually only take a cd out once to burn it and then put it away forever.
  4. I promise I'm not trying to start a 12 page holy war VC thread but I have to say I thought Dylan sounded really bad in Cincinnati Saturday. The rest of the show was outstanding. Richard Thompson seems to be an excellent fit, MMJ sounded as tight and energetic as always and Wilco the same but Dylan was really disappointing(for me). Of course his band is tight and sounds amazing as I'm sure he pretty much and deservingly so has his pick of musicians but as far as Bob went if you didn't already recognize the song and know the lyrics you literally had no idea what he was saying. Not in an Eddie
  5. Would love some insight on how many nothings they decide to throw in on any given night.
  6. Everybody should take 5 minutes and listen to Moody Blues "Never Comes the Day" and imagine Wilco covering it. By everybody I actually only mean you guys and Jeff though.
  7. This sounds fantastic. One of my favorite R.E.M. tunes. I know this was a Mills gem but did Stipe do the "ba ba ba ba baba" on the album?
  8. I just paid $43 to see Wilco, Jacket, and Bob freakin Dylan. That's a $200 concert ticket if I've ever seen one.
  9. I think this album is a lyrical masterpiece. I fell in love with it after about the third spin. Im a huge Dawes fan. I've seen them numerous times, once at the begining for free and once for $9 so we go way back. I believe im on record somewhere in the VC annals saying North Hills is one of the best debut albums of all time but I thought Nothing Is Wrong was a step back. I love what the guys did here.
  10. Just get married...you'll get two!
  11. I guess as a kid I didn't appreciate chauvinist pompous, abrasive adults. Had I known I'd turn into one things may have been different. For the record I was always kind of a Janet guy too.
  12. When I was a kid I didn't care for John Ritter , I feel guilty about that now.
  13. I've quit a couple things in my life that were not too good for me. Telling people your quitting is a mechanism. Now you have people you don't want to disappoint, it helps.
  14. Gary doesn't look or act like a "hard drugs" guy. I'm goina go with some type of downer. Could be booze...I think that could fall under chemical dependency. Hope he cleans up though. Thats a guy who sings what comes to his mind no matter how revealing, no filter. That takes a lot of balls.
  15. How funny, we got both of these this year as well. My third(first boy) is 6 weeks today, hence my absence. Maybe Wilco baby clothes are in more of a demand then they know. I wish I knew how to post pictures, the little dudes room is decked out in some of my favortie Wilco show posters. Most are cartoonish, 2 of them are the last 2 years benefit shows and would fit right into the hallway decor of a daycare minus the print and autograph. I have two older girls so my wife relinquished "most" creative power to me. I must be honest though, Louris and Olson seem to have his ear so far.
  16. Anyone who's seen My Morning Jacket knows that on the way out of the show your saying "what the hell just happened in there?'(in a good way). Their live shows are notorious, zero credibility for Paste.
  17. Why on earth would an election make you think about Jeffery Tambor?
  18. Without a doubt. I feel like I've said this around here before but my iPod is almost always on random and no matter when this song comes on its awkward and not good timing. I love the song and would say was borderline obsessed with it the first time I heard it,listening to it over and over but I almost always skip over it now. Grill out with the family, alone in the car, with buddy's in the garage, unless your abducting teenage boys and burying them alive in your crawl space this song is probably inappropriate.
  19. Another rough day in the life of a Cincinnati sports fan. Colossal meltdown! 0-3 at home with a 2 game lead in a yard where they haven't been swept all year. Tough series for Rollen with a costly error and a K to end the series but he has been great for the Reds and the city, class act.
