  1. That is true. I am actually surprised the festival has not been shut down. They received a lot of local negative press last year.
  2. Yes - Ratdog was there last summer. Or was it Phil Lesh, I can't recall.
  3. You can still stream the SBDs at archive.org: Grateful Dead Live at Texas Christian University on 1971-11-14 Grateful Dead Live at The Austin Municipal Auditorium on 1971-11-15 (Not anymore)
  4. I would like to see them, but I could not deal with the crowd.
  5. Furthur to play All Good Music Festival Looks like the band will be playing up the road from me.
  6. John Mellencamp For Senate? (Huffington Post)
  7. Rock Hall, 'Raw Power' To Start New Three-Year Stooges Cycle
  8. After reading that Dead Gear book, I am sometimes surprised they were actually able to play shows. I remember how I got those cassettes now. I had a neighbor who was into being a hippie when it was in the thing to do (1990 something). When she got done with that, she gave me those cassettes.
  9. I think I actually had that cd at some point. I don't really own any studio stuff outside of the The Golden Road (1965-1973)boxset. Although, I think I have Wake of the Flood through Built To Last on cassette. I have not played those in years, as I don't own a cassette player.
  10. I see. Thank for pointing that out. I was in the military.
  11. I don't think I have ever heard that song. I am not really that familiar with the songs after the Blues for Allah album. Although, I actually own Built to Last (on cassette). Someone gave it to me for Christmas the year it came out. I am not sure I ever listened to the album though.
  12. I posted that last night in order to let the fellow know the tickets were on sale. I have been to Japan. I forget what city though.
  13. I pre-ordered Valleys Of Neptune the other day. I don't think I have ever done that before. I would much rather be able to walk in a record store and buy it the day it came out. NME News
  14. The discussion here make me think of a thread on another message board I am on. That is, how some bands can change members, and carry on without any backlash, and other bands can do the same thing and be looked down upon for carrying on with the same name. It sounds like Marah is returning to their roots - is that true?
  15. I disagree with that. I think when Mike Heidorn, DaveJim Boquis, and Eric Heywood were with Jay, it was a band. Not just some dudes he hired to play on a record and do a tour. They had feel - which I don't sense on the new Son Volt records. I don't know enough about Marah to know what their deal was, really. I have the first album - that is it.
  16. So what is the scoop on the July 7, 1989 show? I have not looked in the Taper's book yet to see what the view of the show was.
  17. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da was worked on more than Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I don't know about the whole hate deal. If we are going by what we see in the Let It Be film, that is pretty much how it went everyday (from what I have seen and read) regardless of the song. I look at Abbey Road as a whole complete album. All the songs are fine to me.
  18. The tickets for the shows in Japan are on sale now.
  19. I guess he does not say exactly. 2009 interview (he references the 2005 interview)
  20. Another great song: Ronnie has the flu there - that is why he sounds funny.
  21. There also versions of it (audio and video) up at various Bit Torrent sites. I grabbed it a few years ago. Still, it be nice to see a professionally released version. In that interview that Relix did with him years ago, David Lemieux talked about releasing the film someday.
  22. Interesting. I guess that is what has become of View From The Vault? I'd rather see an official release of Sunshine Daydream.
  23. I'm not necessarily a fan of the whole each dude needs to have a spot to shine deal. I prefer jamming in general. That is, the whole band grooving and creating together. And then, in the midst of that, solos can evolve as they are born in the moment. Or something like that.
  24. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da It talks about how that came to be in the Beatles Complete Recording Sessions book. I have not read the book in a while, but I also seem to recall that the song was worked on and re-done quite a few times. I want to say that the rest of the band did not get into as much as Paul, but I could be wrong about that. To me, all Beatles songs are magic, some are just more magical than others. I think Paul had heard some ska/reggae music and tried to create a version of that for the band. I think he got the title from some musician he knew, who later went on to sue Paul over th
