  1. Have you tried putting the Fuzz Factory first in the chain? Works for me.
  2. Yeah, it looks effortless, too. I kinda hate him.
  3. Is Kenneth the one who plays the old Martin? He's really, really good.
  4. Hope I'm not too late to this particular party, but... Watching the NPR live stream from Newport Folk earlier, I was blown away by The Milk Carton Kids. They're an acoustic duo reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel. Tremendous harmonies and some great guitar work. I immediately bought all three of their albums (the first two are actually available for free on their site). Anyway, I urge anyone who may be into that genre to check them out.
  5. Wow. That was my wife's Solid Sound request. We went to the Mansfield show while her sister decided to hit Saratoga. She's not taking it well, poor girl.
  6. Thanks for posting that photo - I was struggling to remember the order. Yes, Jesus, etc. got cut, but that rendition of Tomorrow Never Knows was worth it. Wow. Despite the awful heat, we had a great time. Got up there early and met some really nice people who were there largely to see Dylan. They'd never seen Wilco, but they certainly picked a great night to do so. We were told that only about 5,000 tickets had been sold, and the huge number of empty seats made it easy to believe. Anyway, after waiting for a little while, a venue employee emerged and warned us that a violent thunderstorm w
  7. Yes , it was Tomorrow Never Knows, and it was insanely good. What a great show. We were on the rail in front of Nels. I'll write more in the morning.
  8. I'll be there with my wife, but as we have pit tickets we're planning on getting in line early. Hoping to get on the rail.
  9. I haven't read it, no. But I have hung out with him several times over the years and one of my best friends has worked for him for about 18 years. He's a really great guy and a true music geek. Very friendly and funny. One example: My buddy is the biggest Jimmy Page fan in the world. When the Foos played Wembley a few years back Dave made a point of dragging him over and introducing him.
  10. It's nothing personal, man. I just mean I'd like to keep VC as my happy music place. There's always Fark or Reddit for the rest.
  11. You can't be serious. But I suspect you are. ...And so ends my foray into the General Political thread. Like most online political debates, it's like screaming at a wall. I'll stick to the music threads. I disagree.
  12. A modern day lynching? Almost like following an innocent black kid and shooting him when he got all "uppity"? And then not being arrested for it 'til public outcry demanded it? And then totally getting away with the murder. Yeah.
  13. Yes, in this case it's VERY easy. Why should Martin have to talk to the police or anyone else?! He was walking home! He shouldn't have been approached at all, and wouldn't have been if he was white. Just admit it. Oh, and If someone was following/harrassing me in the dark I'm pretty sure I'd go on the offensive too.
  14. I'm not "cheering on vigilantism". I just won't be sad when he's on the receiving end. As I said: If Zimmerman hadn't been playing cop and strutting around with his penis substitute then Martin would still be alive. It begins and ends there. He racially profiled a kid, them followed him armed. When his doughy ass started getting kicked he shot him. Do you think he'd have followed anybody if he was unarmed? I seriously doubt it. This whole tragic situation was caused by Zimmerman alone. A coward with a gun.
  15. Your instinct is correct. It IS a travesty. If tubby had just stayed in his car as he was instructed that poor kid would still be alive. Simple as that. I won't shed any tears when Zimmerman is beaten to death on the street soon*. By the way, was anyone else disgusted at the whole "OMG the kid had THC in his blood! Evil minority!!" bullshit that went on? Yeah, I'm sure he was embarking on a pot fueled rampage. At best it explains the skittles. *sorry if that sounds harsh, but I'm just really pissed and more ashamed of this country than usual today.
  16. That's because Dave's a frontman. A good one at that. I hope they don't collaborate either, but only because it wouldn't be a good mix. Whether you like his music or not, Grohl's a class act.
  17. Ha! I spent my teen years just across the Clyde from Greenock. Used to pass through it on the train on my weekly record hunting trips to Glasgow.
  18. I did. Good stuff. Bearded sweaty hug jokes aside, I really like MMJ. I've been a fan for years, but Mansfield on the 20th will be my first time seeing them. Can't wait.
  19. Well that's just something we ALL have to live with.
  20. Yeah, I can see being a bit wary of the general public, I guess (although wouldn't it be easier to stay home & collect his own urine?) - but what's he afraid of backstage? Does he think Wilco's going to bug him fan-boy style?
  21. Ha! I do, actually! ...and well said, Hinko. I feel the same way.
  22. Thanks! I'm happy you picked up on it. Sadly, it's a first.
  23. Exactly. Also, think about what it means that none of the other bands have even met him. It means that in all likelihood there's a "no eye contact with Bob" rule for everyone on the tour. The other bands/crews are probably pretty limited in backstage space and even access. This sort of thing happens more than people think. I've seen it first hand and have always considered it a dick move on the headliner's part.
  24. I'm going to Mansfield. You should read the threads for the past 8 shows. Mr Heartbreak & friends have been doing a great job of posting info.
