  1. Gregg wrote he had no use for the Dead, or their fans. But what surprised me more was to read that Dickey (and Berry) were the big Deadheads in the band. Was in a meeting this morning and missed the pre-sale. I know it's still going on, but haven't had time to catch up to it and will just do the regular on-sale. I didn't mind having to buy the new cd in order to get access to the pre-sale; I will buy it anyway and it likely serves to keep pre-sale access to the real serious fans of the band. No problem for me, though I wouldn't be surprised to see folks complaining about it all over the
  2. That looks like a fantastic spanning the decades collection. Might have to go find me that unofficial download.
  3. Nope, they didn't get any writing credit. Which is what pissed them off, not that he used it to build a song, but then failed to give credit, and when they pressed the issue he just refused. Simon denies it, but I'm with Lobos on this one. For no reason other than their story seemed believable, and I like them better!
  4. And the Los Lobos guys are on record claiming that he totally ripped them off on Graceland, they were in the studio with him and he took one of Hidalgo's tunes they were jamming around on and turned it into one of the Graceland songs (I'd have to look at a track list) and refused to give them any writing credits.
  5. It was the WELL, in its pre-world wide web DOS based bulletin board days. They say there were 2 groups who took to the Internet in its earliest incarnations: NASA engineers/scientists, and Deadheads. And before I found the WELL, it was Terrapin Station, a dial up BB run by Captain Trips out of Connecticut.
  6. No, you are not alone. I don't think I ever make the choice to pop them in the CD player but I've listened to a lot of Coldplay over the years as my wife and daughter are very big fans. I've even seen them live and watched their live DVD a few times. They've got a lot of songs that I like, and their live show was excellent. Very high energy, and entertaining. I like the guitar player's playing. If my wife wanted to see them again, I would have no problem going.
  7. Yea but anyone who writes Powderfinger and Cortez gets a lifetime achievement award in my personal rock n roll lyrics HOF. (I'm assuming Neil wrote both?)
  8. Excellent! Hope to couch tour tonight and tomorrow.
  9. All (well almost all) that the 3rd set of Winterland is missing is that blonde gal twirling on the stage!
  10. Watched Set 3 again last night. It certainly is killer Dead. So right about the transition back into DS, Bobby just laying that fat transition chord out there and everyone following. Sweet. And a killer Wharf Rat. Some of my best buddies from home were in attendance, have always been kicking myself I didn't join them. Just wish the video was better quality, looks like it's the tv feed. My all-time favorite GD dvd is still the extra bonus disc in the Grateful Dead Movie box. Just them straight ahead ripping on those songs without all the movie bullshit.
  11. I'm with you on that. And I've certainly tried to like them, I feel like I *should* like them, but I just don't.
  12. Also on eBay. This and the other 2 shows I bought in the 3 show bundle are going for around $50 each on eBay. I guess cause they are out of print, can't be found new most places and maybe folks don't realize the Jerry site is still selling them?
  13. Definitely. You are not alone. I wouldn't limit to Wilco/Tweedy shows, I've had a number of true religious/spiritual experience over the many years (decades) of concert going. Keeps me going back. A religious experience without the religion, it's the best.
  14. Thanks for the reminders. I know what I'll be watching late tonight.
  15. Just had my first listen to disc 3 The Harder They Come. Sounds awesome and what a great rockin version!
  16. Yes, the sound quality is just perfect. That's the show I started with after getting the bundle, still working my way through it.
  17. I would have a very different view, and would say highly likely
  18. Good thing you finally got it, since this was the, ahem, "final" Glenn standing on his drums routine ever, unless they return to Joe's Field!
