  1. I tried getting Agganis tix the moment they went on sale, couldn't ever get through. My only way is StubHub, I've been looking but waiting to see if prices come down, probably wait until day of the show.
  2. I'm a fan, as is my wife (she's probably a bigger fan). Going to try to see the Boston show, don't have tickets yet. I've seen them several times, but not for many years. First time I saw them must have been 1980 or very early '80's, in a tiny club in Boston (actually Allston/Brighton) called the Underground. Boys Don't Cry was out, which I see was released in the US in August '80. Probably only a couple hundred people tops in the Underground that night.
  3. I don't know, the thing about the too fancy venues is that the sound is usually magnificent. I'm always chasing the venues with excellent sound. So if the choice is excellent sound and sitting and bopping in my seat or standing/dancing in a less the excellent sounding room, I'll take the excellent sound. But I get why folks don't want to sit. I'm going to have to decide at the state Theater GA show on Wednesday whether I'm going to stand all night up front or go for a seat. Standing for an hour pre-show, then through the opener, then the break, then through all of Wilco sounds like a lot
  4. I don't know what questions 3 and 4 are, but to answer my question and likely # 3 or 4, photo on Instagram shows them playing acoustic hootenanny for an encore set. I also can't wait for Wednesday in Portland. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Tweet from Pittsburgh show says they did all of Star Wars tonight

  7. The other question to be revealed tonight is will they still be doing an acoustic hootenanny encore set? I hope so. Where you sitting each night? I'm left orch row RR (last row of the front section) on Friday, Mezz L Orchestra Row C for Saturday. Or do you have press/photo passes?
  8. I too am on the Derek bus. His playing with Warren in the Allmans was always special, seeing those 2 share the stage and feeding off each other always made for guitar fireworks. And TTB is a whole 'nother thing: a big band sound meshing blues, rock, soul and R & B. A fantastic band, with great spirit emanating from the stage. And Susan's vocals, which I consider to be the best blues singing since Janis. I never pass on a chance to see them. Next time for me will be at JazzFest.
  9. I am seeing three shows this week, so I would also prefer they don't do Star Wars in its entirety to open each show. With 2 nights at the Orpheum, I would be surprised if they do. We'll find out tonight how they will be handling the set list. Mikael posted a photo on Instagram saying they were rehearsing Magnetized. But that doesn't mean they will do all of Star Wars. We will know soon enough.
  10. Didn't see a topic for TTB, so I'm starting one, and starting with a link to stream of the new soon to be released album. Sounds great. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2016/01/22/tedeschi-trucks-band-let-me-get-by-album-stream/
  11. The Portland show at the State Theater is a GA show. Does anyone know how the theater is configured for this? I've never been there, but I assumed it's a theater setting, like the Orpheum. But since it's a GA show, maybe not?
  12. Wilco in Pittsburgh tonight for first show of 2016. Anybody around here going?
  13. Boston Globe gave her new album a very good review on Friday: "But on her third solo album since the Furnaces embarked on an extended break, Friedberger proves herself a master of the singer-songwriter confessional, with sun-dappled tracks that have the easiness of loose-limbed country-rock without being afraid to offer a peek at the beating heart lurking underneath." 14. What, have all you VC'ers stopped going to shows in '16? Lettuce for me tonight Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Here's the grids for the club shows. These cubes will fill in as shows are announced. If you look now at second weekend, only 4 clubs are listed. There will be dozens listed as time goes on. I also subscribe to various club email lists to get announcements directly. There always ends up being more shows that I want to go to than I can physically get to. http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/
  16. Both Iglesias and Jonas playing first weekend, so I didn't pay any attention. They will probably draw big crowds, but there's so many other stages/tents to wander over to.
  17. I'm really happy with the second weekend lineup. Tedeschi Trucks, Neil, MMJ. Lobos, Elvis, Beck, Gary Clark, Jr., Mavis, and all the NOLA regulars, etc.
  18. If you haven't seen this, I would encourage you to get to RR. I caught the Boston Pops show at Symphony Hall, a great night of music.
  19. After a couple of years' hiatus, heading back to NOLA with a buddy for second weekend of JazzFest. Any other VC'ers going? So much fun. Today's a big day, the lineup and daily schedule gets announced. Although my experience has been its always a blast regardless of any preconceived notions I've had about the daily lineup. So much music of every kind, I always find something to blow my mind at every time slot on some random stage or other. And the food....
  20. I had never heard of this singer until this week when my son sent me a link to the NPR "First Listen" of her new album New View. Really liking this new album. I'm sure folks around here must know her, and Fiery Furnaces. What's people's take on her? Should I be listening to her previous work? Anybody seen her live?
  21. Wow, that's a great lineup. I would love to get to this one. I just booked JazzFest with a buddy, don't know how many more festival weekends I have in me, or how many more weekends my wife will put up with me disappearing. My wife has always been awesome about me hitting the road for concerts, even when we had 2 little kids at home. I also have Lockn' on my tentative schedule. Decisions decisions.
  22. Love that, my trainer turned me on to that a number of years ago. Had never heard the Black Album, or listen to Jay-Z at all before. Would work out to it. It's a fun album.
  23. SRV is listed in the liner notes as a member of the band on "lead guitar." Not listed as to any specific song. Nile Rogers is listed as "guitar." I assume from that SRV plays throughout the record, or at least every guitar lead on the record.
  24. Came home from work tonight to play some Bowie vinyl, which I haven't done in years. I get to Let's Dance, and I see in the liner notes SRV is the lead guitar player on this album. I had no memory of that. Definitely snapped my head back. RIP Mr. Stardust/Thin White Duke. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
