  1. Good clip from Australian tv embedded in this article. Funny that she's more well known in Europe and USA than in Australia (I find that hard to believe). http://www.stereogum.com/1805368/australia-discovers-courtney-barnett/video/
  2. Not at Lockn'. Well, the only painful decision there is do I stay for the rest of this 2:00 a.m. show or go back and sleep? But until the late nights, there are no overlapping shows. What a relief. At Solid Sound, Saturday always presents some decision challenges between the comedy theater and the music. My wife plants herself inside the theater for all the comedy. I usually come and go. This year I particularly want to see Jessica Williams, but if she's on opposite Richard Thompson, I will be outside hearing music.
  3. Has a daily set time schedule been released? I don't think so and can't find it, but just checking. I would have thought Real Estate would play before Wilco on Friday night, but that last email announcing the acoustic show has them playing after Wilco. Wondering what time Wilco will hit the stage Friday. I'm figuring an 8:00 slot. Anyone here have the details?

  5. The sound system at SS has always been crystal clear. Perfect from my vantage point each time, regardless of the weather. I have no doubt it will be again for the Friday show. I was sitting in the mezz at a Portchester show and had no difficulty hearing the encore songs.
  6. Looks like Saturday is just about sold out (only 250 tix left according to a sponsored post on FB). I wonder how many that means. However many, I know it won't be like the first year. Hope it's not more than '13.
  7. I don't think this sentiment applies to Ryan Adams. Seems to me his interest in the Dead is legit. Didn't he put out an album widely seen to be an American Beauty offspring?
  8. Glad to see them mixing it up. Looking forward to this set.
  9. At the first SS, the gate to Joe's Field was not open all day. That may have been the case for SS 2 also, I don't recall. At the last SS the field was open all day as I recall.
  10. As for the Strand shows, I can't point to specific shows, other than to say Steppin Out, which is culled from I think 7 UK shows during this tour, is freaking fantastic. So if you're looking for more single shows, I'd track down whichever shows the NFA>Bo Diddley>NFA, adn Rockin Pneumonia and Dark Star>Sugar Mag are from and get those. Not to say you shouldn't get any of the other shows represented on this set, get em all!
  11. Just finished watching the Weir documentary. Loved it, a "must watch" in my book. The guy went and created the reality of his dreams. The director does a nice job shining the light on Weir as really the most unique second guitar player. Could watch his guitar playing all the time, especially those '72-74 China/Riders. 12. Thanks for the review Tim. You going today also? I'd love to see Jason Isbell, but can't make it. Too bad, this likely means he otherwise won't be in the area for a while.
  13. I've never been but it looks to me like it has to be the worst place ever to hold an all day and night music festival. My office is in a tower next door, and to look out on that plaza of concrete and brick makes me wonder how people can spend all that time standing on their feet there. I won't do it. 17. Foo Fighters announces as the final musical guest for tonight. Underwhelming choice to me, I can't stand them.
  18. After watching Letterman religiously for many years, many years ago, I hadn't watched much for a long time. I've been recording Jon Stewart (and Chelsea Lately before that ended) every night, so not enough time in the day to also watch Dave. But over the last month I've been recording Letterman every night and really enjoying every minute of each of the shows. I'm still behind, but will end up watching them all. i don't disagree with the comment that the writing has declined, but the video clips they've been showing have been great, as have the A+ guest list of people who have showed up the
  19. "Jeff Tweedy has grown into one of the great rock songwriters of all time. I’d put him right up there in the hallowed “second tier” alongside guys like Pete Townshend and Ray Davies." Wrong, I'd put him right up there in the hallowed first tier, alongside guys like Bob Dylan and Neil Young. "But Wilco is a musical collective, and Tweedy has surrounded himself with some of the best rock musicians playing today, in particular drummer Glenn Kotche and lead guitarist Nels Cline. In my eyes there’s nobody better today than these two." Don't know I can say that about Nels since there's such
  20. I agree, Collapse Into Now is an excellent and sorely underrated album. After a few not so good ones. And I also miss that band very much.
