So I realized last week I have five Wilco shirts in my dresser -- four of which I wear regularly. One's been relegated to sleeping in, but I'm not ready to let go of it. My family teases me about my Wilco wardrobe, but I bet there's a bunch of you who have WAY more than five! How many Wilco shirts do you have?

Yes, it is kind of cheesy, in my opinion. The question: why do you ask? I'm curious, as one of a few who doesn't really love the Avetts. (Lots of folks I know think they're great; I just don't see anything exciting or new in what they do -- admittedly, quite well.)

And worth every last penny!

I'm a member of the Jacksonville affiliate, but they're so poor they don't even give gifts! (Or my pledge is too small to merit one). Florida's erstwhile Governor, Rick Scott, cut all state funding for NPR and PBS this year, so I'm pretty much a member for life at this point. WHEN, oh when, will Terry Gross interview Jeff Tweedy?

I love that sentiment! The elation of seeing a live Wilco show does feel quite life-changing... but then it fades and you need to see them again, and again! And it shows no sign of stopping.

Good one!

When you look at the map on the wilcoworld website, you can see the entire southeast coast has had zero shows for this tour. So, as hope springs eternal, I'm holding out for another eastern leg of the tour later in 2012. Or Solid Sound. Must have one or the other -- ideally both!

I've been having the same panic lately! I live in North Florida and got to enjoy the band once in Gainesville and twice in Jacksonville. What with rumors that Solid Sound 2012 isn't a sure thing (scattered about on this forum in the past month or so), and no Southeast tour dates announced for 2012... It makes a girl downright anxious! If it's true that they might skip a year on Solid Sound because of extensive touring in support of The Whole Love, then hopefully during the spring or summer months the band will come back to FLA. But I'm definitely starting to jones that I don't have a chanc

If the tagline on the youtube video is accurate, Uncle Tupelo's last live song was a cover of Gimme Three Steps. How fantastic is that?!

John Fogerty is playing at the amphitheater in my hometown tonight. I can hear him quite clearly, from my backyard bonfire. So here's what I'm imagining... Fast forward maybe 20-25 years... you've just bought a ticket to see Jeff Tweedy solo at your local small music venue. It's a good while since Wilco toured, but Jeff still keeps the flame burning. How weird is it to think of that?? A friend of mine at work used to be a HUGE fan of The Band and she went to see Rick Danko play at a small bar in our town, many years later. She hugged him and told him he'd been her favorite singer in The

Your Favorite Nuances/Parts of Wilco Songs

The pedal steel in "It's Just that Simple." The sweet strains of fiddle in "Passenger Side." And the voice cracks. Yes, I'm listening to AM. As another poster put it recently, it sounds like coming home. Sigh. -
Love this phrase!

Your Favorite Nuances/Parts of Wilco Songs

This thread got me officially hooked on VC. With the new record, there might be some fun things to add. I'll start: Towards the end of One Sunday Morning, the sound that sounds like a plastic ball being rolled around in a plastic cup. Like a kid's toy or the last Tic-Tac in the little container. -
I understand the excitement of that accomplishment! It's so fun when someone finally gets what you've been raving about all these years. My best friend of 20+ years came to a Wilco show with me in September, and it clicked -- SHE GOT IT! Very gratifying for best friend and best band to intersect.

I read someplace (can't remember where) that SBS was written just after Jeff's mother died. Never saw that fact corroborated anywhere else, but it has always made me think of "this rotten time" in a different way (in the song SBS).

There are always two sides to every story, but that does change everything. -
Wilco heard while you're out and about

Kamera at the ABC store buying wine for last night's dinner! And here I was trying to have less Wilco in my life... clearly it was a sign. -
This is such a great compliment to Wilco. I only wish I could be more driven to listen to the music collection in my house... the last few years, it seems like it's all-Wilco-all-the-time. Not much else sounds as good to my ears. I really feel like I'm losing perspective by being so focused on the music of just one band. Note to self.... put all Wilco music away for a month and listen to some different stuff! (Who am I kidding -- I can't live without TWL for a week, let alone a month!)

Watching Pat reminded me of the end of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" where the Peanuts Gang is carolling and their mouths are all making "O."

I think the author is bored with being an adult. You know, it sucks that you gotta go to work and pay bills, take the kids to soccer/ballet, can't do any fun drugs any more. Perhaps s/he needs to drink a few beers (hoppy or not) and go see a live Wilco show! The shit ain't boring!

It really doesn't get any better than that. Every one of these guys is the real deal. I know I'm always gushing about Jeff, but I love how when he sings in falsetto, it invariably turns into a smile.
-
I guess it's not really a full-on jones... it's just fun to see photos from recent shows, see whose facial hair has changed, whether Jeff's wearing jean jacket or blazer, who has a vest on, what color Nels' pants are (I love the red ones!). You know, all the important details.

Curious where the latest photo that comes up with the website was taken... Ryman maybe? (wood floors on stage, seemed a likely choice). Also I want to complain again about no "photos" link on the new website. What gives?
