  1. Happy Birthday Kim -- here's to minimal delays / cancellations at O'hare / Midway this year!
  2. "Christ for President: Wilco Live at the White House"
  3. I don't want to be a huge jinx or anything, but could this crazy thing become a reality?
  4. I plan on heading down to Grant Park, hopefully early enough to avoid what will be a mad rush of traffic and crowds. I just early voted this morning for Barry in the Northwest burbs.
  5. For your birthday, sweetheart, I cloned somebody: Happy Birthday E, I love you.
  6. Love writes a letter and sends it to Hate. 'My vacations ending. I'm coming home late. The weather was fine and the ocean was great and I can't wait to see you again.' Hate reads the letter and throws it away. "No one here cares if you go or you stay. I barely even noticed that you were away. I'll see you or I won't, whatever." Love sings a song as she sails through the sky. The water looks bluer through her pretty eyes. And everyone knows it whenever she flies, and also when she comes down. Hate keeps his head up and walks through the street. Every stranger and drifter he greets, And s

Now forecasting scattered T-storms on Friday. Maybe a little rain to cool the Radiohead crowd.
  8. Without hesitation, I came out VC hibernation to put in a vote of representation for the collective Kev Nation.
  9. I felt the same way... (Spoilers to follow...) A lot of the Joker's machinations - "choose one or the other" and the inmate with stomach issues in the jail cell - were a way too reminiscent of the 'Saw' killer to my liking. I didn't buy Harvey's transformation either, how easily he was manipulated to the dark side by the same person who put him there. And don't get me started on the convenient little bit of technology that Wayne Enterprises conveniently develops that happens to conveniently allow Batman to save Gotham and enact his own Patriot Act / Homeland Security style surveillance. In
  10. If I vote for either of you and you win, can you sneak me & my ladyfriend into any special VIP parties?? I'm an eighth serious on this one.
  11. 'Highly Suspcious' is an awful, awful track with some of the most annoying backup vocals and worst lyrics in recent memory. "Peanut-butter pudding surprise" is a turd, both figuratively and literally... which would all be okay if the track were the least bit fun, which it isn't.

I wonder if we'll hear Monkey Mess at the kid's stage?
  13. This was a sweet little birthday surprise.
  14. Thanks everybody. I've been bouncing around to Costa Rica (last week), Whitewater WI (this weekend) and now I'm in Indianapolis. I'm not gathering any moss along the way, although I am gathering photos of monkeys.
  15. I had no idea my leg was that jittery during that whole thing. Now I know why most guitarists stand!
  16. Here's a few more pics: Elizabeth getting an obscure album signed: Me babbling incoherently: Matt: Erin:
  17. John got a little ribbing too - Jeff mussed up his hair, Glenn was called out for being a sound geek, Sansone a Guitar Hero kick, Nels doing his guitar solo body-gasms. Also joked about bringing the band in for an electric Spiders versus the acoustic version - "Should I call the guys up? I've got them on speed dial." Just dropped Elizabeth off at O'Hare where we saw Jamie Lee Curtis making a trip to the women's bathroom, then later she reported seeing Trace Adkins coming off a plane near her gate. Jeff's celeb karma apparently rubbed off on us or something!
  18. Jack White is shaking in his boots. This is me and ElixirSue drucking funk:
  19. If anyone's seen my jaw, I think it's still on the floor in that basement somewhere. There was a tuning issue on Jeff's guitar (he played the same one he recorded the 'Sky Blue Sky' song on, incidentally) where the b-string would get a little out of tune when he would put a capo on the 5th fret. He also christened it Clint. And later in the evening / morning, Clinnt, with two ns. What an amazing weekend. Wilco fans truly are the greatest bunch of crazed obsessive fanatics on the planet. Including ElixirSue, who I ran into at this show and I think I'm smitten over. There was some
  20. You should steer clear of Chronicles Vol. 1, then. Jeff's prose writing skills blow Dylan's away IMO, and I'd consider the latter to be the greatest lyric writer we've ever seen.
